Can pickups warm up the tone of your bass? Or is it solely the wood?

If so.. can anyone suggest some warm sounding P and J pickups

ha ha ha-

the sound starts all at the pickups man-
of course they "warm" your tone-but every part of the bass can help do that (amps too)....

I would say the wood has the main influence on your sound.

IMO wood is mainly aesthetics. You get most of your tone from your pickups, pickup placement and amp.
Most vintage style pickups would be quite warm so check out Lindy Fralins.

Tone comes from every part of a bass. Everything contributes to the overall tone, just some contribute more than others and pickups do contribute a fair bit!

Check out some bartolini's. I believe these are pretty warm sounding. Also check out Lindy's, Nortstrands and DiMarzio's.

Now wheres edge...:p
