Alright so, ive had this problem eversince i uninstalled nortons internet security, where if i send stuff to trash bin... it leaves the space persay, but the data doesnt leave the hard drive, so for example, i download a 1 gig movie, watch it, delete it... the 1 gb of data is still on the hdd. but the space it was takeing up (i guess visually), is gone.

So, today i got another hdd, made it as a slave (storage) , tryed putting files on it, and deleted some just to test it.. and the stuff was actually deleted off the disc... so what the hell is going on here?

Norton sucks.

Get McAfee Security Suite. Ever since I switched to McAfee I haven't had one single infection.

My advice alone should be enough to delete everything off your computer. My word holds just that much power.

Yeah, I'm going to bed now.

I used to use Norton Firewall, it sucked.
Now I use McAfee, it's good.

Overall, McAfee > Norton

The uninstaller probably didn't completely uninstall Norton. Get SymNRT (ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/linked_files/tsgen/SymNRT.exe). It removes all traces of Norton programs from your computer.

Yeah the removal tool should do the trick if/when you get mcafee.

What happens if you hold shift and delete something (this just bypasses the recycle bin)

Also try Msantispy (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en) as that may also help.

Presuming your using Windows as opposed to a Mac

Use Ccleaner, it completely removes all temporary files and can fix registry problems (like the stuff left behind after uninstalling programs).

My sister has Norton installed on her laptop and she can't uninstall it no matter what she tries. :-/

I use McAfee and I've never had any trouble with viruses, I would recommend that you switch over to McAfee when you get the chance.

I doubt this is whats happenning so if I'm wrong im wrong but read just in case.

from what you've written above it sounds like you have only sent them to the recycle bin, and haven't permanantly deleted it from inside the recycle bin.

Also the reason it doesnt stay on you slave drive is because it may be being sent to your master HDD recycle bin

I don't know if this will help but here goes.

Go into My Documents and click on the button I have highlighted on the top left.

My Documents (http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/1231/recyclebin18er.jpg)

Now it will take you to a folder called desktop and the recycle bin should be there for you to empty.

Hope that helps.

You can also go to the disk cleanup wizard to empty your recycle bin as well.
