I am trying to get the box-set of that fairly bland TV comedy series "Just Shoot Me" for a friend, however it seems that it has only been released for the countries of "Region 4." Since I live in England, we are in "Region 2." Is it possible to play Region 4 DVD's in a Region 2 DVD player somehow, or even on a computer? Do the regions still count for DVD players in computers?
(or, can anyone find the box set of "Just Shoot Me" released for Region 2 which I've missed?)

I don't believe so. For my German class, our teacher orders movies from Germany so we can watch them in German (just to get exposure to the language, we watched Anchorman the other day, luckily he had on English subtitles). He had to buy a special DVD player to play them.

I know if you burn it on DVD Shrink it removed the encoding.

I have some that are, mostly just DVD's from labels that have music videos on them. I don't think they make actual movies/box sets region free, though.
Seriously, check that site above. For most DVD players there is a code to make them region free.

I think if a DVD is region 0, then it can be played on anything. My computer DVD player lets me change the region only 10 times and then it stays for good.

Region 0 are "universal" or "code-free." They will NOT work in a PS2 or Xbox (Al Di Meola - One of These Nights.. ;_; ). They'll work in anything else.
Computer DVD readers have no region coding.

Computer DVD readers have no region coding.
Yes they do, but you have a specific number of allowed region code changes, or you can put hacked firmware on the drive which disables region coding.

I've found that the really cheap DVD players are those that will play anything you put in them.
I have different programs on my computer that basically allow me to play anything I put in. I think that VLC player plays anything as it plays whatever WMP or my DVD program don't. So, I dunno, whatever, it works.

Some dvd players can be hacked, depending on the model. It's usually the cheaper, budget players though.
Like the guy above said, use VLC media player if you want to watch it on your computer. It's a great program that'll play anything pretty much.
