It did it nearly twice as fast as the ps1, and the ps1 was the only system to sell 100million (well not anymore rite)
Thats neat i guess.

i think that pretty nifty i guess
i wonder how many ps3's will be sold?
do you reckon there will be as many because of the introduction of psp's,(not that it matters to sony) and online gaming etc?
also much more competition from the xbox 360,will sap at numbers

I let me friend borrow my Xbox and I have his PS2, the thing I have noticed is that the Xbox runs alot quicker (loading, saving etc.) than the PS2 but there isn't really a noticable graphics difference in most games.
I love being able to just save a game on my Xbox wthout having to worry about memeory cards :p

Ally: I also love the harddrive on my xbox, I went to buy a ps2 but got sold on the idea of never buying a memory card. I always hated having to delete things so that I could save a huge game file. I'm looking to trade my xbox for a ps2 though, just because there are a few games I want that aren't on the xbox.

I was talking about Metal Gear Solid 1,(the ORIGINAL version, the GC one was crap) but either way....the PS2 versions of the Metal Gear Solid 2 are superior to the X-Box version, and Snake Eater has quite possibly the most amazing story ever told in a video game of this or any generation.
And while you may not like Final Fantasy, it doesn't defeat the fact that Final Fantasy VII has more staying power than any X-Box game ever will and is considered by a unbelievably huge amount of people to be the greatest game ever made.

I agree completely. The Dreamcast had many great games for it. I'm never going to sell mine, it's a classic. In fact, I played mine yesterday. I whipped out NBA 2K for old time's sake, and I had a blast. Not to mention the fact that the system is also a good emulator of other systems.

Ally, the only fault I find in your arguement is you're basing it too much on personal opinion, while the others aren't trying to argue what the best system for YOU is.
Most of the PS2 games you put down, you did so by saying YOU didn't play them, or YOU didn't like them, while demographics and general concensus say that they are superior genres, a fact you can't argue.
This is why I believe when it comes down to it people have to accept that internationally PS2 is superior; XBOX may be faster and flashier but in the longrun that minute difference is offset.
However I agree with your reasons for PERSONALLY not liking PS2. Let me try and fortify what I said with an example:
I hate the Halo series. I find it mind-nubingly boring, uninspired and repetitive (and too colorful to be honest). However I know that it is one of the greatest game epics ever and I admit to it and will never argue otherwise.

It's great that the PS2 sold 100 million, but I know that that doesn't meant 100 million people have it. I know people that have bought a new one because theirs broke (multiple times) and I know people that lined up to buy the newer version (slim PS2) even when theirs worked perfectly.

Yeah. Because, you know, one of the best selling video games of all time, in the hands of a company with a marketing razor sharp enough to cut God, will clearly fade away.
Halo is overrated by some, but is still very very good. The majority of critics agree. Has anyone mentioned Knights of the Old Republic? XBox has plenty of good and great games, and so does PS2. It's all about preference. I, for one, have never had an interest in FF because it was too big and unfamiliar an empire when i got into gaming, and in fact, a little intimidating. Kotor, i could get into because i'd always liked Star Wars (the Kotor series could probably give SE a run for its money on the story thing, too). As for Halo/2? Friends reccomended it to me.
I don't give a rats *** about intercompatable gigabits of the hi-fi discombobulator, nor any of this other stupid ****. This bitter fanboy argument is just a bunch of slanted crap; "My Console has a bigger dick than your Console!" Grow up, kiddies. Have we all forgotten that these are just games?

Playstation still holds the title for best games.
(Which is why, I mentioned FFVII...another PLAYSTATION game). Either way, Metal Gear has been and will always be better on the playstation for one thing...the controller...the xbox controller is absolutely horrid to play MGS2 on. In fact, the XBOX controller is horrid to play any game on except for Halo.
The XBOX version of MGS 2 suffered from major slowdown in key parts of the game, whereas the PS2 did not. And again, the PS2 controller Setup >>> The XBOX one. So in the end....Ps2 MGS2>>>>> XBOX MGS2 And no, the XBOX version did not have more dog-tags...both version of MGS2 substance had exactly the same content, but the PS2 version technically ran better.
And you obviously don't understand the greatness that is Hideo Kojima, and have no idea behind the concepts of Japanese Story Telling so you can't comment on the story of MGS3. Go watch Princess Mononke or Akira (Not by Kojima, but still Classic Japanese Film and the two of the best examples of Japanese story-telling at it's finest) and if you think that the stories told in those movies are not some of the most amazing fantasy tales ever told then you can't judge Kojima's style either because you know absolutely nothing about the culture behind the style. MGS3 may be set in a realistic setting, but it is ultimately a Fantasy story, so for the sake of storytelling purposes (and having BADASS boss battles)the "Bee Man", and "Mr. Photosynthisis" are ok in my books. Hell, if you can't even understand the simple metaphores behind The End, The Fear, The Pain...etc...I  at you.

I saw a post about the XBOX controller, and was gonna quote it but can't find it now.
I disliked the controller allot at first, and was more prone to the PS controllers, but once you take the 3 hours to get used to the XBOX controller, you'll find it to be superiour. The analog/D-pad placement are much more logical for the shape of our hands, and XBOX's pressure sensativity, expecially on the R/L buttons is a million times better.
I just remember though, I do like the R1 R2/L1 L2 on the PS more than the black and white buttons on the XBOX controller, but in most games they are insignificant.

Quality, not quantitiy :p
How about you just get on with it and say admit you're a Xbox fanboy?
Plus, you're judging a game's storyline when you're only 1/4 through it?

I know the storyline, my firend told me, and I am not an Xbox fanboy. I'm a PC fanboy :thumb:

I let me friend borrow my Xbox and I have his PS2, the thing I have noticed is that the Xbox runs alot quicker (loading, saving etc.) than the PS2 but there isn't really a noticable graphics difference in most games.
I love being able to just save a game on my Xbox wthout having to worry about memeory cards :p
Yeh thats me, and i must agree that the Xbox loads a lot faster. The memory card thing is easier on the Xbox as you dont have to make sure your memory card is in or anything (its lazy, i know, but just a little plus). Comparing games that come out on both consoles the difference in graphics is negligible. But games like Doom 3 i cant imagine that game running as well on PS2.
Generally i prefer the games on PS2, eg. MGS3, but people who say "the Xbox is ****" or "its not as good as the PS2" are just not thinking clearly.

Generally, I say "the Xbox is ****" and "it's not as good as the Gamecube."
And my head's plenty clear.

Hm. I prefer PC over consols really, but my personal preferance is the PS2.
Plus, playing the game and hearing it from a friend are two differant things.

It's like saying: The plot for LOTR sucks, it's only about throwing a stupid ring in a volcanoe...big whoop :p
You really have to play through MGS3 to feel the absolute greatness of it's story, hearing it from someone else just ruins all the fun.

Correct on LotR, it's nothing but throwing that thing into a volcano, worst trilogy ever.

Now XBOX will get the headstart, but the damn price is so high that nobody's going to pay for one until it drops.
