I loveee the look of the yamaha stage customs in fusion sizes and natural finish....but the only real experience I have between the two are with the PDP, so you know where my biased vote goes. :)
I've used the ELX, and I thought it sounded a lot better than I thought it would after wading through so much negativity about it here (especially the toms!). still, I'd take my PDP (it's the FS, not the the CX) over the ELX any day.
no clue about the mapex.

I'm partial to PDP, only because I've wanted a DW for the better part of 10 years now, but can't justiy the cost. I do have a PDP CX however, and I love it. I have coated Evans G2s over the stock resos., and they sound pretty darn awesome if I do say so myself. All my friends comment on how good and clean they sound.

Out of those 4, the PDP or the yamaha.
The V is a lower line than the others, the M birch is more comparable.

This cat says Yamaha. PDP can be nice if you can get a good one. Thoroughly inspect your potential purchase!

**** YAMAHA
PDP are the best going for the price, i have mine now for a year and i have roadtested it and it stands up well ,looks the business and sounds great especially the wooden hooped bassdrum. Also the snare sound great too. a well matched set. try get one of the better pdp's like the lx which is what i have
