Hey what's the best program/way to save a movie from a DVD onto my comp? Also to take up the least space...

I use a combination of DVD Decrypter and Auto Gordian Knot.
DVD Decrypter is needed to rip the DVD to your comp. It will take up approximately 4GB, but this shouldn't be a problem. The files will be in a a format that requires your DVD Player to watch.
Auto Gordian Knot is then used to convert those files to a .avi format. This allows the movie to be viewed in Media Players such as Winamp or WMP. It will also result in the movies size being reduced to around 700Mb, which also keeps it at quite a decent quality. The other files (4Gb) can then be deleted.
