Have any of you ordered cymbals from MassMusic and got cymbals that were dusty and had finger prints on them? My birthday is on the 30th and I just received my 20" Sabian AAX Stage Ride in brilliant finish today. I was a little surprised that the cymbal was dirty and had finger prints on it. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before.

Thanks,
Eric

I rather order from massmusic then go to gc and play 60-70 bucks extra. As long as it's not broken it's not a problem to me. And I have never recieved broken material from massmusic. Not only that but the majority of cymbals are marked up no matter where you shop. If you walk into GC and test a cymbal out you're basically getting the cymbal you tested. They don't have any extra "new" cymbals lying around.

id rather pay 60-70 dollars (which is a horrible exhageration) than get ripped up equipment, or have to wait for something i paid for. or mail money to someone i dont know, have never met, and never will meet. for something ive never heard. and am unaware of whether i will like it or not.

That 60-70 adds up over time to buy more gear. His equipment isn't ripped up either. No broken bell, cracked bow etc.etc. Finger prints CAN'T be avoided. If you're not touching your cymbal then how do you clean them? You never use cymbal chokes? You have to have hand contact to perform either of the 2 options which is apart of drumming. Massmusic just has the better prices for Sabian all around. I payed for my HH Raw Bell Dry ride at $237USD total. That same cymbal was at GC for $289 and thats without tax. Just invest in some groove juice.

...Half the time you'll find cymbals with light stick/finger marks in stores as well. People test them out you know.

Buying online is perfectly fine if you're not a moron about it. Half my cymbals have been ebayed, and I haven't had one bad experience - and I love them all.

Besides, fingerprints are hardly a huge detriment. Just wipe them off and be done with it.

Just to let you know, GC may advertise at one price, but that's just it- its only an ad. Go in the store and negotiate, bargain, bring in other store's ads, become a long time customer, whatever it is you want to do and you'll see you'll never pay ad price. GC matches, then beats any ad you give them.

Here's one really great example:
I found an old ad for a road ready RRM4U at some off-the-beaten-path online music shop ( its a 4 rack space, slant top mixer case that sells for $229 at GC). It had the pic and the item ID, selling for $119. This had to be a misprint. Dealer cost is almost exactly that. I showed GC the ad, the manager came out and typed in the price, and you bet- I got that case for $119. Ebay doesn't even have them that cheap.

^^^ If you just want to get massmusic's price, then bring in an ad. Otherwise, and trust me, you can get GREAT deals on ANY cymbals they carry. Just bring in cash :D

They are great people, and they'll do a lot to help you get the gear you want/need, but its a business too- so they need to make some money off of their products!

tbh i got really messed about with massmusic, i went to order my force 3005 and they said it was in stick, so i placed the order. the next day i rang bk and they wanted like, 2 weeks to get it, ok i said, 2 weeks passed and they wanted another 6, sod it, cancelled the order. went to my local drum store and they had one just in in the exact sizes i wanted and they did a KILLER deal on it.

they may be great people at the GC you go to, but it is not the same at every location. remember, not everyone is going to haggle as much as they may do wherever you are. plus, think about it, it is very easy to photoshop something off a webpage. they may not be so quick to lower their price if its something off the internet.

besides, like someone said, its just fingerprints, just wipe them off with a towel, its not going to affect the sound very much.

Massmusic is a great place, there deals are some of the best on the market.

a fingerprint is just a freaking fingerprint. Who cares It will come off with some warm water and a cloth. Just make sure you dry througholy after.

As long as it sounds good, who cares if there are fingerprints on them. Stop complaining
