I am in a band of about 2 months(bass player) and we are coming along pretty nice but our most experienced guy is the drummer and I am confused by a recent problem of his.
We started playing "Where the Streets Have No Name" and it sounded great. His playing was good, maybe not exactly what Larry Mullen played but in sync and fine. Well he has suddenly freaked out on us and said "I just can't play this song, it's too hard, I sound terrible, etc" and we are all questioning this.
First of all, is that song particularly hard on the drums? And secondly, if the rest of the band feels his interpretation of the song is good, and flows well with the music who cares? Not every band who has covered a certain song has done it EXACTLY the same way the original artist has. Am I wrong?
