$300 ON EBAY, including shipping and sales tax (only an idiot like me would buy something off of ebay from someone in the same state and not realize it)

Yeah its not the newest swr unit but i am still a Very proud owner of SWR solid state tone. The sweetest feature by far is the rackspace underneath the amp. Since this is only 1 part of the intricate puzzle of my tone, this rackspace will definitely find use. For what product? I am unsure at this time... For those of you without rich parents and good jobs, I ALWAYS recommend USED gear instead of NEW crap.

I sware this amp had cobbwebs and was full of lint, hair, dust, dirt, and probably another species. I had to sweep it out with a broom on the porch. A review will follow in a few weeks.

LET ME CLARIFY OKAY THANKS..

rather than pay $300 for a new SWR product with less power, features etc... get something used from SWR instead.

why pay $300 for less of something new. Instead pay $300 for more of something used.

okay now that is out of the way. leave this thread and lets continue with the celebration, thanx.

I think it's good you got an amp, and an apparently reliable one at that. If it works having to dust it out and in the condition it is, good for you.

That said, seems to me though you paid a bit too much for it. I mean $300 for an amp isn't bad, but if you had to take that kind of care to it, and it's missing a knob, I'd be wary. I got my new Mesa/Boogie Walkabout on sale for $400, so I'm biased.

im not trying to bring you down or aything man, but if it is such a good amp, why didn't he put a reserve on it? if something is too good to be true it usually is.

well it was $235, sales tax and shipping. I'm not much of a mesa\boogie fan :(

Mesa isn't for everybody, but SWR isn't either. They're pretty much polar opposites when it comes to tone.

Putting it that way sounds like a good price. And from what I know, the older SWR products (pre-Fender) are extremely reliable.

$399 at Guitar Centers memorial day sale. And I'm not looking to sell it anytime soon. :p

I've been trying to work on a review, but I haven't had much time lately.

I was this close |-| to getting an SWR Studio 220 but got outbid literally on the last 5 seconds. I then spazzed out and bought a Trace Elliot. But good buy, those older workingman's are good amps, with solid tone. And that rack space looks like a great spot to be a pre amp

Power amp, maybe. Pre-amp would be a tad redundant, I think.

umm there was a reserve. The amp works. All of the knobs and all of the features work. I wasnt boasting about the deal being too good to be true. I am boasting about my new [used] amp at a not so bad price. I'm sure that someone right now is getting the same amp for $30 less and paying $15 less shipping and no sales tax. Or better yet, getting a better amp for $30 less and picking it up as opposed to paying for shipping... I've seen people on harmony-central pay anywhere from more to hell of a lot more for this same amp, used and new

I don't think there are any power amps that can fit in 1 rack space. I might be wrong on that one...
And you can never go wrong with adding a pre amp, you can use both the SWR's pre and a Sans Amp RBI to get some crazy tones

I intend to add some sort of rack unit that has a preamp with compression, and maybe even a built in tuner if I can find one. Something to add a little warmth to the SWR tone. The side of the amp has a sturdy handle so I can carry the Amp and the rackunit in one hand. very very convenient for me since I have to travel light. I was thinking of the sansamp because I read a review of it on here. I'll look into one

123 on that power amp in 1 space

In all my days of sound reinforcement I have never seen a one space power amp. Unless its like Play Skool or something
