for those of you who care, i finally got meself a soundclick. i don't have any new stuff on there yet, just a couple of covers i did years ago with my old gsr200 when i sucked on bass:p . i posted them so when i post new stuff maybe we can see some improvement from 2 years ago. i've been too lazy lately to actually setup my little "recording studio" so that's why there's nothing new. i might get around to recording something tonight though.

yea i guess it's not bad considering how long i'd been playing when it was recorded. the tone is pretty bad IMO but thats the gsr200.

i know, it is a shame. maybe it's a difficulty thing - the drummer in my band refuses to cover any tool songs because he says he can't play anything by danny carey..i dunno, some tool songs aren't hard, at least on bass..

Danny Carey is one of the best drummers in modern music. Do not under-estimate him.

I rank him right up there with Tim Alexander, Portnoy, and Peart. He's better than Portnoy, no doubt.

I agree, he's insane. the drum job on my lateralus cover isn't perfect but it's close:)

portnoy has the echnical profficiency, but hes just bland and predictable with his beats and such.

and carey is indeed a robot

You are a darn good drummer, I must say. You've got the song down pretty well, IMO. Surprised me.

If you want to talk drum theory, Carey FAR surpases Portnoy.

Seriously, that Lateralus cover was great. Might as well be Tool playing it.

i know, i wasnt comparing them, simply saying that portnoy isnt quite at the level that people make him out to be. at all.

and yeah i know carey is good. been one of my favorites for quite a while.

Carey and Alexander both have amazing rudiments...it's mind-blowing.

Portnoy can play in strange time signatures darn well, though. I respect that alot in a drummer. Counting 15/8 isn't an easy thing to do.

i wouldnt say that. there were a couple mess ups here and there, but i noticed too, it was very proffesional. good quality sound and timing, unlike a lot of stuff here

yeah our timing was off in several places. i also don't have an octave pedal so i couldn't do that part of the song. thx for the compliments though, i'm surprised heh. i had only been playing around 6 months or so when it was recorded, i figured ya'll would tear it apart:lol: . i've always been around music though, so i picked up bass pretty quick. my brother is a wicked guitarist, the next stevie ray vaughn IMO.

ahh how can you not like him? the man was a genius and he had style:thumb: if you saw him live you'd change your mind - he played with so much emotion.

i havent really heard tim bust out in primus. granted he plays very well in his songs--well enough for me to know he is really good at what he does, but nothing balls to the wall. he is pretty flawless at keeping time, but granted thats a drummers job.

He goes off at pretty much every Primus show. Get a live bootleg, and you'll find a 40 minuet drum solo. EVERY one of them is mindblowing.

He has lots of drum solos in Laundry, too. (If you've not checked them out, I suggest doing so.)

listened to the one off suck on this (unless thats the only one). reminded me of how bad les's tone was back then.

nice solo. i love how he doesnt draw it on but keeps it short and powerful. and I should take back on how Ive never seen him bust out, as i own hallucinogenetics and he busts out there plenty

I must say I couldn't pick out the bass too well in the mix, but your drumming is pretty damn good...

The tool cover sounded nifty.... tone's a little off, but it was good!

thx man. you couldn't pick out the bass in the tool cover? that's weird, when i play it on my PC the bass sounds too loud.
