Short Scale Bass Question

so i have been playing bass for about 4 years now and i finally got my second bass but its a slammer short scale with a flamed maple top. and i play alot of hard rock so i was wondering what kind of strings should i get for this bass to make produce the sound that i want?

p.s i got bass boomers for it but they werent short scale could this be my problem?
