The sad part about that video is that I know this band where everyone does **** like that. They borrowed my guitarist's cab one gig and I stayed to watch them. I couldn't stop laughing the whole entire time.
i couldn't hear any sound coming from his bass, nor did it even look like he was playing.

^ Oh, I have no doubt in my mind the bassist isn't playing anything "real," but it's lame to insult someone for getting into the music...
I'm sure he's not that great, but not every bassist in screamo (although, like I said, they're NOT screamo...or anything good, for that matter), emo, hardcore, etc., is bad...I've played in my fair share of emo/screamo/hardcore bands and I'm not a crappy bassist, but I'm not "amazing" anyway.
You can't label a genre as "sucky" beacuse you don't like the bassist, any other musician in the band, the style, etc. You can not like it, but you can't say it's meaningless because it obviously means something to someone else. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or ear, as the case may be. :p

It applies to everyone, though; don't write off a music genre as "nothing" because you don't like it. It's still something to someone else.

As for the bassist - I don't know if he was playing well... I couldn't hear him... he did look like a tool though.

Prog rock? I don't really listen to it. I find it boring. Technical stuff doesn't tickle my fancy, and neither do bands like Tool and APC. I find them boring as hell. There's nothing different about it. What exactly are they "progressing?" They're just using odd time signitures and lyrics to try to be different, and I can't go through a prog song without yawning.
I like screamo because it's melodic yet chaotic. It's heavy but is still harmonious. I can relate to it. You can't and you don't have to. It's just a taste in music...
For the record, yeah, that guy DOES look like an idiot, but that's how some people get into the music...I do stuff sort of like that, but not nearly to that extent. :lol:
EDIT: This also includes bands like Rush, etc. I find them boring as all hell. I can't get into the music or relate to it at all. :( If you do, awesome, but it's just not me.

The way he slugs around on stage and then sits on the amp playing this ridiculously rubbish finger style piece which most people have already made up, and then forgotten due to the badness of it. He then progressed to put some sort of distortion on in a hope to improve his already completely disgusting performance only to shock people by his crap style, stupidly long guitar strap and oh yeah, terrible piece of music.

It's even easier to knock those bands. They are pretentious in the extreme that intellectualize music beyond the point of all emotion and feeling, turning it into a mangled imperfect science rather than an exquisite piece of art.
You see? It's quite possible to knock all forms of music.

Not to insult any one in most scremo and or hardcore bands the bassist plays a minimal role in the band so they usally take up the part of the showman... and do all the guitar ticks and spaz... And Gav is right they are not scremo... there more leaning to hardcore or just crap... but i'd need to hear the vocs to decide..
And i am not into too much hardcore/scremo but im quite exposed to because most bands and kids by me either like rap or some form of emo/hardcore and are in the coresponding bands since i live in NJ one of the most major starting points of this genre... and as sad as it is my bad is slowly drifiting into the world of hardcore:upset: /metal:) ... but im keepin my low end still out of the basterd root note only section...
