I am mainly a church gospel bassist (R&B, soul, blues, jazz type genres) and I was curious what combinations people love.

One combination that i like the most is the mtD and david eden combo. a michael tobias bass with eden head and 10in speakers either 4, 6, or 8 of them.

Another combination I see in mexican churches is the Ken Smith and SWR combination. SWR head and usually played through 10s. The SWR 10s can handle very deep frequencies (goliath 6x10). I like SWR stuff but for its clarity but it isn't very warm and my bass isn't warm either. MAybe if I got a ken smith or something made of mahogany then I will like the warmth of the bass combined with the clarity definition and punch(great for slap) of swr

Any other combinations people like? I definitely love eden and love tobias.

Lately I've played my Peavey mark IV over an ampeg classic 210.. And that sounded pretty good :amaze:

Kubicki+Hartke-Sounds amazingly bright and punchy, couple with some aluminium cones for tonal heaven.

Also, Kubicki's running through Polytone amps sounds great, with a bit more low end than through a Hartke.

I'm sorry, is kubicki a bass brand? I'm not too familiar with it.

I like the ampeg 1x15 coupled with the schecter I played through at guitar center. I played the schecter studio or whichever schecter that has a wooden finish and gold hardware with emgs.

Also the ibanez roadgear jazz\MM pickups played through the 1x15 ampeg combo sounds pretty good too.

i actually saw a jazz guy playing a conklin bill dickens through I belive an SWR setup. He brought a whole rack so I'm not sure what his preamp was but I did see a QSC power amp and a 31 band eq.

Cort + Hartke

Actually it does sound good. Tight and punchy but with enough bass too.

the gallien krueger backline stuff I tried was absolute ****. I plugged into several gallien krueger rigs at guitar center and was very disappointed.

These seem to be the combinations that people prefer. Of course this is all opinion. I prefer a tubey warm with low end, clarity, and some clear punch when slapping. (i can't describe my tone desires any better. forgive me word usage).
