So after the successful thread on best QB of all time and after waiting two weeks for someone else to do it, i decided to do it myself. So who is the best quaterback today?

I think Peyton Manning is the best QB.
Tom Brady has accomplished more, but I think Peyton Manning could have accomplished the same things if he played for a team with the Patriots' defenses in the last four years.
His talent at the quarterback position might be greater than any QB, ever. I said might, so don't criticize me for it. ;)

Eli definitely has the potential. If he stays on the right track, he will be the best in the league, you watch. Hopefully the Giants can keep their hands on him, Burress, Shockey, and Toomer, for years and years.

I voted Favre, he is the best in the league right now if you look at both overall skill and longevity. His team is in the crapper right now so you can't fairly compare him to a Manning or Brady. Manning and Brady both might be a better QB, but you can't fairly judge them without first putting them in the same situation and watching how they do. So, i went with Favre, the greatest QB ever IMO.

It's between Peyton Manning, Brady, Favre, and Palmer. I voted for Manning. I don't want everyone to be confused and go around saying Peyton has the best QB skills and athleticism. because he is very far from that. In terms of skills and athleticism Favre and Palmer will take that.
But Manning is the smartest QB to ever play. His knowledge of audibles and different coverages is amazing, and thats where he rips up the opposition. For that, and this burst of wins hes putting on, will get him top spot. Brady is up there because of his ability to win games.

Are you serious?
Vince Young? I don't think college QB's should be compared to the best QB's in the NFL today, and most of the QB's on that list were better than Young when they were in college anyways.

Sean Coleman? Who the hell is that? I've never even heard of him...
Anyways, Peyton hands down. Best arm in the league, and best mind too..

I decided to take their current level of play and their possible growth as players into consideration and it narrowed it down to two possible Answers.
Eli Manning and Carson Palmer. Eli is doing a d*mn good job right now in New York in only his second season, with a couple of good recievers and a T.E that is a threat any time he's lining up.
Carson Palmer has a huge, huge upside to him I've been fallowing him ever since he got drafted and he's starting to come into his own, He's begining to make checks at the line now in only his second actual season. On his stat sheet it will say third year but Learning on the side lines is a lot different than actually doing in the game situations against the likes of Ray Lewis and Takeo Spikes.. I voted for Palmer because he's the one I know. But in Three years it will be Between NYG and the Bengals for best record in the league.

Because unlike Favre, Culpepper had a healthy, and may i add very decent, group of WR's. It's hard to put up big numbers when you literally have one person to throw too.
And if he did put Culpepper up there, I would bust out laughing. The only reason he was ever good is because he would chuck the damn ball up to Randy Moss, anyone can do that. Even Sean Coleman.

Marcus Robinson was washed up years ago and Kelly Campbell and Nate Burleson are one-dimensional speedsters whose stats were inflated by playing with Randy Moss.

Brad Johnson's still played better for them than Culpepper. Brad Johnson!
Daunte is Jeff George without the arrogance; a guy with a lot of talent who will never consistently put it together.
As for who's the best quarterback, it depends what you mean by best. If I could have any quarterback with the game on the line in the fourth quarter, it is Tom Brady, absolutely no question about it. Brady is in the elite class of all time clutch quarterbacks, with Montana, Elway, etc.
But, if we're talking about overall skill, it would have to be Peyton Manning. He has mastered the quarterback position.

Troy Williamson is actually a very good young player, he just doesnt get the ball thrown to him enough. And Nate Burleson is very good, he's just been missing for lkike the first 5 or 6 weeks due to injury. And have you heard of their tight end? Wiggins is freaking amazing good for his size.

First of all Kerry Collins arm is terrible, so he can't chuck the ball up. Second, Moss has had a string of injuries this season.

I voted for Mike Vick. I love seeing mobile quarterbacks more than people like Manning who tend to stay in the pocket more (Though I do like the Colts). Yes he's a bit lacking in the passing area, but he can run the ball like a mofo. Though I can't wait for D.J. Shockley to go professional. He's like a Michael Vick who can pass the ball really well.

12-04-2005, 08:07 PM
Both of the Vicks need to learn how to protect the ball and need to learn how to not make bad passing decisions. They both turn the ball over way too much.
I'd not consider Vick the best today because of Donovan McNabb. If I were to choose a QB who could run, I'd choose McNabb because he can throw much better than Vick. Just my thoughts.

I'm a Steelers fan too, but I still voted Manning because I'm not THAT stupid. The fact is that even if Roethlisberger was a good passer (maybe he's just decent), we wouldn't really know because he usually relies on the teams great running backs and tight ends. He has a great passer rating because he doesn't take a lot of chances, and his greatest yards per game were in a losing effort to Cincinnati.
Oh well, he can still improve a lot and has plenty of time to do so. Too bad Palmer is running right up against him.

Yeah sure, give any QB a good offensive line and they're do alright. But give Manning and Bledsloe a bad offensive line and Manning will still shine while Bledsloe will hold onto the ball too long and get sacked 7 times.
And even with an superb offensive line Bledsloe can't match Manning.

I recall about 2 seasons ago, Manning had an interception problem and failed to lead his team past the first round of the playoffs.... Bledsoe is a superbowl quaterback with playoff wins .... I admit he has sometimes held onto the ball too long but as a result less forced throws have occured which lead to interceptions. Holding on to the ball has a good side... it can open up big plays down field.

Sure holding on to the ball is good in some instances, but you've got to know when to get rid of the ball, and adjust your game if you're getting sacked over and over again. Bledsloe doesn't adjust.

I just wanted to point out Manning has just as bad mobility. Every time he's pressured you see him do this little fast shuffle with his feet and thats when he gets sacked or throws a pick. Just like the Chargers game. Every time Merriman would get within 5 yards he would enter panic mode.

Last weeks game was a bad example of Manning's mobility. Sure he's no Vick or McNabb. But I've seen numerous times where a defensive lineman has come at Manning and he runs outside the pocket and avoids him, to either throw it out of bounds or if he can makes the pass. I'm not saying he's fast or anything, just that he's no Bledsloe.

Bledsoe is stastically overall a better quaterback as of now on the record books.... Im telling if the Cowboys had a bett o-line they would be a force to reckon with ... Their reciever tandom (Johnson Creighton Witten Glenn) to name a few are ranked with the best.

Bledsoe is a superbowl quaterback with playoff wins
He has one big win under his belt (the AFC Championship Game four years ago in Pittsburgh). In the first Super Bowl run in 1996, the defense gave up a combined nine points in two playoff wins over Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, and Bledsoe pretty much gave the Super Bowl away against Green Bay.
Bledsoe is stastically overall a better quaterback as of now on the record books
That's a dubious claim at best. Over the span of their careers, Manning holds the advantage in completion percentage (63.9 to 57.3), yards per attempt (7.7 to 6.6), yards per game (262 to 231) and yards per season (4,091 to 3,295), touchdown passes (243 to 241), and touchdown-to-interception ratio (1.89 to 1.25). So really, the only statistics that Bledsoe holds an advantage in are career attempts, career completions, and career passing yards, and that's because he has 60 more games under his belt.

Considering that the Pats' blueprint for beating Manning has always involved making him move around, I don't think you have much of a case here.
This poll cracks me up. Brett Favre is equal with Tom Brady, and has more votes than Donovan McNabb.
Yeah, I forgot that I lived in an alternate universe where Brady is as good as Favre and inferior to Carson Palmer.

Once again I'm not trying to talk up Mannings mobility and agility, just stating that he is better than Bledsloe at escaping pressure, being aware of what type of blitz he is facing and moving around in the pocket.
