Digitech Whammy on bass

I just wanted to know if you guys have ever heard how this pedal works on a bass. It seems like a great pedal to play with, but I'm not sure if it has the same effect on the bass as it does on a guitar. What songs include the whammy pedal?

Juan Alderete from The Mars Volta has 2 of those, but I think they are the bass ones. I'm not sure.

Stu Hamm uses one in "The Castro Hustle" and "Outbound", and probably a few more songs too.

Justin Chancellor (from Tool) uses one and always sounds great.
