Since you guys help me out so much why not lol. Im going to guitarcenter tomorrow Im sure im going to buy something just for the sake of buying it. I don't know what it is. But it will probably be a pedal. I feel like spending over 100$ for one, so I was looking at the Boss Compression pedal Over Drive pedal or a Boss Equalizer. Basicly Im just asking for you to tell me if one of these seriously suck and I need to watch out for. And/or what you think I should get, I mean I know you don't know my style but that doesn't matter i just want something to play around with what do you think is most worth it? I might get that EQ or should I just use my amp for that. And the overdrive might be fine if I m alone but If I want to play my roll as a bassist in a band I don't think I will need it. Btw Im going for that punk rockish tone.... Yea just warn me about anyone of these.

no offense bro but unless you're rich i wouldn't buy a pedal just for the sake of buying it..but anyway, if you really want a pedal i'd look into tech 21 sansamp bass driver, boss equalizer, mxr m-80, aphex bass xciter, and ehx big muff. i own the tech 21 sansamp and the mxr and i like them both. i'm probably gonna pickup a boss bass equalizer and an ehx black finger in the near future.

well, i don't have experience with the boss equalizer but i've used/own the other pedals i listed so i'll give ya brief little descriptions from my experience. the mxr m-80 pedal has a distortion channel which is pretty much useless IMO. it sounds crappy and i only use a tad bit of it via the blend to give me a punchy and very dirty tone. the cleans are very nice with it though. as edgebass put it in his review, it gives a very "nu-metal" bass sound. the tech 21 sansamp is a very nice pedal and well worth the $180. it's a tube emulator so it gives a very warm tone. it also has overdrive but it's a very smooth overdrive (you'd probably like this pedal). the big muff pedal i really don't like. it's pure distortion i played with it for awhile and couldn't find a tone i like. it's just too much distortion for me regardless of where i set the dials. the bass xciter was pretty impressive but not worth the $100 IMO. it gives your tone a bit more "edge" clarity and boost. anyway hope that helps.

The Sansamp seems the way to go.

Well I went to GC today was close to picking up a OD or EQ then I saw my bass that I have been saving up for I didn't think they would have it so I put a down payment on it for layaway and im gonna be back in like a week or less to pick it up. It was soo hot.
On another note I lost all my confidence when a bassist came next to me and started playing this awsome stuff with slap pop and tap techniques. He looked about 16 and he said he had been playing for 7 years I have only been serious for 4 months so that helped me feel a little better. But I couldn't concentrate on what I was trying to play with the bass I was buying but the bass did feel good and played nice.
Anyway im still sure im going to get a pedal for christmas so I still need to choose. Real reason I want one is well to slightly distort my bass just SLIGHTLY when playing with a distorted guitar. And because me and my friend like to keep it down to one guitar and one bass unless the singer plays a little. So I was hopeing to use it so I could sound bassy and do the guitar part while he plays high lead guitar. Such as I caught fire by the used.
I noticed the boss distortion pedal was very high I needed to use the eq knob to get the bass back but it was almost at full just to get the bass I needed.
BTW the guitar Im getting is a natural fender P bass and im putting a black pickguard on it. HOT well at least to me.
