Ok when you'll are with your band and making music what are the steps you'll usually go through and how do you make your baselines so that it fits in with the music nicely? Thanks.

Well, before my band split up, we would have the bass play a similar rhytme as the bass drum, and the same key as the guitars...but that was because he just started to play bass...so yea..but more expierenced players could just jump in with something that comes to mind...as long as it sounds right, you can't go wrong..

well, regardless of the music you play, heres how my band usually writes..my guitarist and i are the more "creative" of the bunch so it's either him or i that brings a line to the table. if the other guys like it my drummer will come up with a beat that fits. then i listen to the beat and come up with a bassline that goes with the drums and guitar. usually when i write bass lines i also have a guitar riff in mind to go with it so i'll explain it to my guitarist and he usually goes off from there.

maybe its just me and the people that i play with. but one of us can start just playing something and everyone else can come in and play and make it a compleat song. we can write a good sounding song in 5 minutes and have it down so we could play it the next day

nah honestly that's talent. you guys work really well together which is a good thing. i've only been in two bands to date and it's always the same problem. my guitarist is really into bands such as lamb of god, dry kill logic, cradle of filth etc etc so he always writes really fast really non-melodic music (at least to my ears) and i like that kind of music but i like to write a bit more melodic type stuff so we bash heads a lot. we've been together for awhile so we're finally starting to find a medium which is pretty cool considering we started out on opposite ends of the spectrum heh. that's cool that you guys click so well though. you have any recordings?
TIME SIGNATURE!
dont play in 3 when its in 4. That would be bad
/knows from experience (it was 2/2, i played it in 4/4)

Normally, the guitarist shows me a riff he has, I listen to it, get a feel for it then think about what I want to do. With the songs my band does, I try to take a different approach to each song. Like I'll notice something one bassist, or many bassists do, then I'll try to recreate it, but with my own twist. Then later, we play with the drummer, and things will change.

how long have you been playing? for me it just comes to me..when we're playing something we think should be a verse the chorus just comes to me..i can picture a singer singing to the song and i get a feel for what the chorus should sound like and i play it.

relax, listen to the music, and imagine what you would want there. Don't show off and don't try to force anything. When you hear what should be played in your head it will be 'your sound'. figure it out, tab it, and play it. And have fun doing it.

I learn what the guitarist is playing (if he has his part already), and then just jam out with it until i find something i like.

either that or we get a rough idea of the entire song ,and then go part by part fine tuning what we play.
