you know what i've been there (well on the plucking hand not fretting hand) playing a party for like 4 hours when i wasn't used to playing that long straight. I got blisters then blled allover the front of the bass. It hurt like a fukcer but it was fun adn a cool story. for everyone there.

I've bled on my bass before. I tore off part of the skin on my thumb from DTing too much, but I was playing a sick line, so I didn't stop and I got blood splatters all over it.

I seriously doubt it was that much. Also, if you were bleeding from your fingers and kept on playing, they would definitely start to open up even more, making it even less likely you'll get a decent clot. If you were bleeding that much and didn't stop, you'd probably have to go to the hospital by the end of the set.

Use a pick. It's blood on your strings, that's just gross.
