I have heard Rockbasses are crap and not worth the dough, but I don't have experience with them.

Huge difference between basses. The only things they share are general body shape and the brand of electronics...

Rockbasses are decent for the price, but compared to "real" warwicks they're crap. if you want a warwick you should definitely save and get a corvette.

highjack alert: are the corvette $$ any good, i like the look and the pickup config. but the four doesn't come in that blondish colour

The Rockbass isn't a bad bass really. It's nothing like a Warwick though... A completely different tone. I think that's why so many people have such strong disdain for them. They ARE solid basses, and they do have good tone.

The only Warwick I'd consider buying that isn't a fretless really. Quite a few usable tones, which is rare on a Warwick. I actually quite dug it, despite it being a Warwick.

the $$ is nice, but i'd probably still get a corvette over it just because i dig the growl. the $$ does have some nice tones though.

Left-Shoe's Warwick is pretty much top notch, has great tone for a Warwick, and has great feel as well. If you like Warwicks, snatch this one up man. Very VERY pretty bass too... It's also in great condition.

Yes, I have played it.

I'm going to second this post, playing it helped entertain the idea of me getting mine.

I'll say this: if the Warwick Corvette model you're looking at is the passive version, then stick with the Rockbass. Corvettes are, in my opinion, pretty useless without their active electronics. And it's my understanding that the Rockbass version features them automatically.

Whoo! That's me playing LS's Warwick (in the Underoath shirt)! :D!

Yeah, it's a very very very very very good bass. I want to buy it so bad, but shipping and such...and I'm saving for college. :upset:

I'd be ALL OVER that bad Larry.

...maybe I can sell my MIM J Bass and splurge a little extra cash...:amaze:

Yes, they do. Go to an actual dealer instead of some site, and you can get it in any color they offer. (Honey Violin, Burgundy Red, Antique Tobacco, Emerald Green, French Violet, Ocean Blue, Turquoise Blue, Nirvana Black, or, in the $$'s case, you can get a natural oil finish on the ash.)
