1) I know the differences between a MM String ray and a sub sting ray. but what are the differences between a sting ray and a sterling?

2) I love the way a natural walnut body looks, like one ordered from warmoth. But how do they sound? i dont know a manufacturer that makes basses with walnut (enlighten me on one that does if they do).

The sterling has a smaller body shape, and has a 3 way pickup switch for the MM humbucker

and six, he was asking about walnut, not maple

and ibanez use walnut in allot of the SR series basses i believe (maybe it was mahoghony, i cant remember)

so no word on what, if any, brands use walnut. or how it sounds? I might be a little wary to use it if no brands use it. I really dig the way it looks tho.

A guy on here built a bass out of black walnut I think it was..

Shame I can't think of his name atm.:-| From what I remember he was pretty pleased with it though.

The Sterling is over-all smaller. Slimmer body, and more of a J profile neck as opposed to a P. I don't believe the latter was stated. Sterling's I believe also have pick-up switch selecter and piezo option.

The Sterling has a slimmer body shape and profile compared to the Stingray. Also, the Sterling has the 3-way switch, "Phantom Coil," that gives it a bit more tonal options than the Ray. I prefer the Sterling for those two reasons. It fits me better and I can get more tones from it.

Walnut is a pretty bright wood. It sounds similar to maple, but isn't as bright and lacks the same bite as maple, but it's still fairly bright. It's a more well-rounded wood than maple.
