Cuz that bothers me. It really does.

Yeah Abe Laboriel is massive. Only dude I can think of who actually suits a 28" kick. When you see Tommy Lee sitting behind his 26" and 32" you just think "that skinny little crack addict needs smaller bass drums".

haha abe laboriel.....that's who i thought of when i read fat drummers. That guy dwarves his set and his set isn't exactly small.

I would just like to point out that this is coming from a guy with Coheed and Cambria as his avatar.
But enough trolling. Back on subject. There's a guy called "The Butcher" in a local band in my town who's pretty damn big.
Nick Barker, Dimmu Borgir.
Buddy Rich kind of too, eh?

abe played a 28" bass?
i knew it was huge (i've seen him play with Paul twice) but I was thinking it was more a 24, maybe 26.

Ray Herrera isn't as lean and muscular as he used to be...
Carter Beauford is pretty big these days as well.

Mick Fleetwood is pretty hefty guy. Rocky Gray form Evanescence is pretty tubby as well.
Cant think of many others, I think bassists/guitarists are more the ones who would be fat, less physical work to play the instrument than a drummer.

abe played a 28" bass?
i knew it was huge (i've seen him play with Paul twice) but I was thinking it was more a 24, maybe 26.It's very normal to switch things in for tours and whatnot, but his regular kit is a nice, fat 28".

The only other drummer I could think of cos everyone else beat me to the punch was the Machinehead drummer for Burn My Eyes album (Chris K.....)? Matt Sorum was a big dude a while ago.

Yeah you'd think with all that fat around his ankles he wouldn't be able to kill those double bass grooves like he does.

That's because the drummer from HIM ate all the drummers from the other 80's wannabe bands.

I immediately thought Abe Laborial Jr. The others I thought off have been mentioned: Dennis Chambers, Bernard Purdie.
Also, to whoever said Mick Fleetwood, he's really not fat. He's tall.

Interesting trivia question, but not a very useful thread in the pursuit of drumming knowledge. You'd have learnt something valuable if your question had been 'can u guys name any good drummers with phat grooves' :)

In which case Dennis Chambers, Abe Laboriel, Carter Beauford, etc. all still would have been good answers .

Jerry Adolphe.
Chiliwack played a classic rock festival that I was backline drum teching. Didn't get see a lot of them play because of dealing with a drummer who will remain nameless.
When setting the band up I asked if he needed any set up adjustments he said "this is fine, i'll play anything" and play he did, amazing player. The guy can groove like no one buisiness.

Yeah how could you overlook David Buckner from Papa Roach, he's quite a beefcake.
He's also quite the drummer. Has some creative beats imo... i deem him underrated.
