View Full Version : Question about Drum Setup

Just have a simple question about hi hat pedal placement... I will probably be ordering a second 22x18 bass drum when I order my drumset from MassMusic. Can you still get the hi hat pedal right up against the left single bass pedal like you can when you have a double bass pedal or does the hi hat stand legs not allow that? If not, do you find it harder to switch feet from bass pedal to hi hat pedal when they are farther apart? Was just curious about this...
nah you wont get the pedals right next to eachother but you can get them close.

picking up a legless stand and the bass drum clamp (clamps stand to bass drum hoop) .. and you'll get it basically right beside it. Andy at massmusic will be able to get you the clamp and stand if you need it.

I just took a look at those pictures, I will get that clamp if I don't like the distance of the pedals.

Oh, one more question guys... do they actually make legless stands, or do you just unscrew the legs off the stand?

Is there any disadvantages to just folding up the legs and clamping it, rather than buying a new hh stand with no legs?

Not really, the problem being if you need to use a single bass setup and have the legless stand you're a bit ****ed

That looks cool man, but I wanted to know if you can actually remove the legs by unscrewing them off the hi hat stand. So I could always put them back on if I wanted/needed to.

nope. i had to hacksaw them off. (carefully) its permanent.
i always use 2 bassdrums so its not an issue for me.

pick up a remote hat stand...you'll be able to place the pedal at one side of the kit and the hats at the other...that would be your best bet if money is not an issue

yeah, basically if you have to do a gig sigle bass, you have to get another stand. i would just get a regular stand, fold the legs up, and rotate them so they arent in the way

ive always wanted to use a remote hi-hat in the normal hi-hat location :naughty: ...unfortunately its expensive, and i have nothing close enough to mount it to :(
