Hello, first off I'm sorry for posting one of these, I'm sure you see about twenty of these a day.

Anyway, I'm a bassist that would like to learn drums. I've always wanted to, yada yada yada. Anyway I have about 800 bucks to spend. Any advice on buying a set would be much appreciated. :D

I don't know how much SONORs are in the states, but you could probably either get a SONOR Force 2005 or 3005! They seem to be great drums at a really good price! I'll be buying a 3005 soon... :thumb:

I think by Spmpr he means Sonor. Never sure with that one though. But it was a good suggestion.

You can get a Sonor Force 2005 for like 799 on massmusic.net and a Mapex M Birch for a little less then that, 739 I think. I've heard great things about both of them. They are both birch kits made by great companies.

Mapex M Birch: $769.99 ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=perc/search/detail/base_pid/449140/c_lv=1/ )
Sonor Force 2005: $799.99 ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=perc/search/detail/base_pid/445162/ )

These are both great drumset kits for just under $800.00.

Depends on what sound you want. It seems to me Sonors tend to give a higher sound on the toms, with a boomy bass, while the Mapex seem to have mid range toms and mid range bass.

The snare on both sounds about the same though, very good snares.

Zildjian and Sabian are always good choices.

advice?

> buy used (ebay)
> dont buy unresellable cheap cr@p

if you become serious about drumming you will want to replace everything eventually ~ keep that in mind :thumb:
