Hey. I was just wondering if any of you have heard of blasting and if you have what exactly is it? I think it's some kind of double bass technique which is used in metal but i'm probably wrong. Thanks

mmmmm Mike Smith does it. If you have got the Road Runner United CD listen to "Dawn Of The Golden Age" he plays it there. I dont think it is double bass, but I also dont know the tab/notation for it. Someone is bound to explain it better then me!
Ah man I just love to blast in her fac... ohhh wait. I have no clue how that pertains to drumming.

I love how your usertitle is "Big Powerful Strokes" and your username is Bone. Works on so many levels :)

It's usually just fast 16ths on the bass and simultaneous 16ths on the snare, or alternating 16ths on the snare and hi-hat, ride, or crash.

That's the most common one.
You basically just play a simple beat as fast as you can for a while.

If you search the forums for blast beats there was a useful topic on this.

You can also replace the high hats with a ride or crash. Mike Smith is actually the first one to do these. That RoadRunner United CD (and DVD) is a really good buy.

When I was at the Opeth concert they were explaining beats.
The "Grind" is snare and bass hits together and hihat.
Then theres a polka beat, BSBSBSBS, just much faster. Hihat on every beat.
