I currently cracked my old hi-hats so I'm going to have to get a new pair. I have a 16" & 18" Wuhan Rock crashes, an 18" Wuhan china, and a Oriental Zildjian China "Trash". Should I go with the 14" Wuhan rock hi's or go with something else?

Nothing wrong with the Wuhans. Though, I'd opt for some Bosphorus or Istanbul stuff myself.

Well what music are you primarily playing? Do you play a diverse mix of genres and need versatility? What type of hat sounds do you like? A gritty wash? A tight focused sound? We need details, because there is no "best hihat".

At the very lightest, a medium over heavy pairing. A Rock hats would probably be great for you, or AA Rock hats. If you needed something more versatile 14" New Beats would be great. 15" hats (Rock or New Beat) would really have a big rock wash that would sound nice. Nice and chunky, those 15" hats :).

yes but I'm also looking for affordability...

As and AAs are the most affordable hats you can buy from the big 3, and personally I think it's worth saving for a decent set of hats. $200.00 CND will get you a nice set of A or AA hats.

AAX-Celerators- they have a wavey edge on the bottom hat, so you'd get a very defined 'chick', and they are nice and cutting, good rock sound.

Yeah, I use A Mastersounds and the Xcellerators aren't too different. Great hats, ripple bottom are my favorite.
A Custom mastersounds are great!

Anything heavy enough will be good for volume. AA's, AAX's, A's A customs, should all be a pretty good rock hat. I have A New Beats 13" and there awsome for rock, but I like a more defined sound. 14" is the way to go for more wash.

I actually played a pair of Paragon Hi-hats, and I must say I was really impressed. Definately a good buy if you're looking for good hi-hats.
