A friend of mine is selling a kit like this (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-HIGH-QUALITY-BLACK-5-PIECE-DRUM-SET-GIFT-DRUM1000B_W0QQitemZ7365600712QQcategoryZ622QQcmdZV iewItem) that I'm gonna get, it's £200, which doesn't sound bad. Having no experience I've no idea whether it's a good kit or not though :/
I think the cymbals are bad, so I'd need to get new ones, and I haven't got a clue where to start with tuning it :S
Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn't recomend it.
Entry level drums, try Ludwig Accent, Gretsch Blackhawks or something like that.

You can get a Mapex M-Birch set for less than that, and at the moment there's an offer where you get a free extra tom! 8" if you buy a fusion set, 10" if you buy a standard (rock) set.
Most big stores are advertising them in Rhythm Mag for £495!
/is a bargain.
