its not the best kit out there, but hey, its from your parents. treasure it and love it. i know that even if my parents bought me a pair of b8pro hihats, i'd still treasure them.

505's are low end, but you shouldnt be disappointed. just get some good heads on it and tune it up and you have a solid beginners kit.

Yeah they are kinda low end. but the thing about low end sets are, if you slap good heads on them and tune them well, then it doesnt matter because if it sounds good, it wouldnt matter. Same thing with the Forums.

yeah if youve already got a low end kit id deffinetly ask for a better one. especially if youve been playing for 5 years.
I'd accept what my parents gave to me on their own accord because I know they genuinely care about my drumming. I wouldn't comment on their purchase but play my drums with greater fervour.

Why moan. The only thing drum related i got off my parents was a CB kit when i was 15, and i paid for half. But i still treasure it and use it, why? As it was a gift, and it surves it purpose.
The 505 will do you fine. Use it as a 1st kit and be greatful.
The make or modal of a kit or even cymbal dosen't matter(I have played on the same ZBT cymbals since i was 15, so that is for 3 years). It is how you intend on using it.

my 2nd kit is a double bass kit aswell, and I love it. Dont worry about how good it is (like the quality it is), love it, they are the best!
Well , there are better kits out there , but like other people said just put good heads on it . Even a 200 dollar drum could sound like a 1000 dollar one if you just put time and effort in getting the rite sound
