Hey Guys. My first thread and ive been wanting a professional opinion for a LONG time.....

So I started of with Paiste 302 plus cymbals(yes I know..>.<) which doesnt accomadate my Highly Prized Rockstar Customs! which I got both a few months back.

Having started of with paiste cymbals, I've grown to like the brand more and more. Now I particularly like the looks of the Paiste Rudes and they aresair to be suited for rock/heavy rock/metal. I have gathered they are a exact comparison to Zildjian's Z's (correct me if i am wrong)

So back to my question. What do you guys think of them?

I like all sorts of music ranging from Kelly Clarkson, Poprock, Alternative, Numetal, Metalcore, Emo all the way to Death Metal....So would these cymbals be versatile?(as there has been a review about it and a guy said he played contemporary music at his CHURCH WORSHIP!)

And seeingn I play for my church worship team aswell, was wondering if it would be a good choice?

Cheers,

Ian

first of all Z customs suck ***. paiste rudes IMO arent really that great. they just dont seem to cut it as far as versatility goes. I would mix it up if you wanna stay with the paiste lines. maybe go for some sig hats and some 2002s for crashes or something. Ive always disliked the rude series. What you should do is try them out though. stay away from those Z customs though if you want versatility for sure.

I Have never played them, but i ahve also heard they are paiste's comparison to Z Custom's, and IF SO, NO they are not very versatile at all and are quite a high volume cymbal, and I personally would not get them, especially for church worship, im not too familiar with paiste lines, but from a zildjian line if you want something that suits everything id be looking at A's or K's Maybe A Customs also if your edging towards are more rock dominated taste

but yea id probably stay away from rude's, as well as z custom's

also remember, paiste's are generally more expensive than the other 2 majors (being Sabian and Zildjian)

Sabian AA, AAX, HH and HHX are also all really good lines, go to a store and see what you like, then buy online if you want a good deal :)

Rudes? Versatile? hell no.

You might look into innovations/2002 medium crashes or especially full crashes, in larger sizes (17" to 19")

and you might want thinner cymbals for the church worship team, since theoretically you play softer in a church. (well... i do anyway.)

as mp suggested, go to the nearest music store and just try everything.

Ok. Because I love the sound that Morgan Rose has on his Ride(A Ping Ride) I think I will definately buy that. I will get a few wuhan china's(because everyone says they are the best!) and fill the rest up with dimensions or signature ranges or something equivilant....what would you guys recomend for a good hi-hat..which is really suited for rock and has a loud and tight chick sound?

dimension cymbals + signature line cymbals + A ping rides + Wuhan chinas == hot sex.

for hihats if you want a tight chick sound, look for the mastersound hihats.. a (or was it an a custom??) mastersounds are good. alternatively, u could just get a pair of newbeats. those are superbly versatile.

yes the A Custom mastersounds are fairly bright and have a nice "chick" sound.

I have an 18" Rude Crash, it sounds nothing like a Z Custom. It has a very "industrial" sound, like something you would hear on a Ministry on Nine Inch Nails CD. It is not very versatile either.

Go A Custom. Will be bright enough for pop-rock, but explosive enough for Death Metal (especially Mediums).
I highyl recommend 16" and 19" A Custom Crashes, got them both and love them.

haha I have the 17" and 18" A Custom crashes. I found the mediums to be mellower despite being heavier and didt find them to be very cutting.

If you want to stick with Paiste, go 2002. You wont be disappointed with the 2002s.

What I'd do...

I'd get one or 2 Rude Crashes and the China
I'd get Sig hats, Full Crash, Power Crash, 6,8,10 Splashes, Heavy or Medium Rideand a China
I'd get 2 2002 Crashes and one ride.

This just goes to show that Rude is just better to use when you need an extremely cutting sound.

IMO.... RUDE crash/rides & ride/crashes sound like @ss (i should know ive owned enough of them) ~ if youre gonna get RUDE crashes get the new THIN crashes as they sound pretty d@nm good.

the RUDE china is awesome :thumb: (i own one)

the RUDE splash aint bad but may not be what your after.

RUDE hi-hats sounds like dark trash, but the RUDE sound edge hi-hats are much brighter and better. (i own these too)

...go to the paiste web site and sample their sound files, they are VERY accurate.
