i dont think theres really any newer metal bands that use them ... i know there are some 80s metal bands that did
i think tommy lee played ludwigs back in the day but i honestly cant remember
none that i know of. They are good kits though. If youre thinkin about getting one dont let the fact that metal drummers not using them make you think they arent good.
I think Tommy Lee used Pearl before DW.

Why does it matter? Ludwig makes awesome stuff, no matter who plays it.

there's a dutch band here, called Peter Pan Speedrock. the guy uses a classic maple ludwig setup.. 2 24" basses, 14" snare, 14" tom (just one tom in front of the snare, in between the basses) and one 16 and one 18" floortoms.. i just don't know which series it is.. it does have the classic ludwig logo on the bass frontheads..

great drums if you got the cash, but they're super expensive like the bohnam kit and the classic maple series. A 3pc classic maple will cost you like 3-4k......so if you got cash to throw around than go for ludwig but there are cheaper more eeficient alternatives.
Ludwig started making jazz kits anyway(I.E. beatles ......beatles aren't jazz but I know that lots of jazz drummers use ludwig.) so i doubt any "metal" drummers would being using a fab four set.

Yeah, the most expensive Ludwig Classic Maple setup is the L8264LX (14x26 bass drum, 16x18 floor tom, 16x16 floor tom, 12x14 tom, 6.5x14 snare drum) at $2,073.00. From what I hear, the higher end Ludwig's sound great.

*going over mass music site again*
I've found my error! I scrolled to the bottom of the page where the individual drums are posted(like i always do) and i didn't notice that they were selling whole kits and not individual drums so when I saw 2k I just stopped right there and said to myself i'm not paying 2k for a single drum. so my bad
if i saw 2k for a single drum I would say to myself,"I must be on the OCDP website right now"

Ludwig does make pretty good stuff. I'm getting one for a second kit to take on the road.
