I was considering purchasing a mapex black panther. Is it a good drum? would it be worth it to buy, quality and stuff like that.

They're excellent drums. They look awesome, especially the hand hammered brass ones

I own 3 of them and highly recommend them. Here's where I purhased mine, excellent price and it arrived in 2 1/2 days after I ordered>>> http://www.massmusic.net/shop/?shop=1&cat=593&cart=1678147
They have most of the Black Panthers under the drums/mapex/mapex snare section.

I own a black panther as my main snare. It's a 14x5.5 Hammered Steel shell. I would say its definatly worth the money, everyone should own one, they're great snares.

Do the Mapex Black Panthers bear any resemblence to the Ludwig Black Panters of the '80s?

you can cut the hi-hat rod too short haha. well i had it measured fine but then it ended up being shorter so i got screwed cuz i play higher now than i did before. I mean its still playable but id rather just get a new one. also its not very heavy anyway. I need something a bit more durable and heavy duty for shows.

Black Panthers are dam fien snares, I'm seriously considering one myself. I'd also like a Brady Side snare, but they cost like 3grand.

They sound amazing. If you have the money, it will be worth it.

go for it man, i've never personally heard one but those are the drums that you can look at and know that they'll sound like pure sex. I would've gotten one long ago if they weren't so darn expensive but i'd be willing to wager that they are far wortht he price.

What can happen to a stand ? I snapped the pedal portion of the hi hat stand. Not sure exactly how it happened.
