I know he is a kind of "famous" drummer, i never heard him, but his drumset positioning is pretty weird. I can`t imagine how he can play on this.

about nicko - his set is really impressed me, i never saw nothing like that before. if bozzio`s monster drumset is fully playable and good-built, the nicko`s set with 180 degree cymbals - i just can`t understand it)

what isnt right for some, is just perfect for others.
what happened to the good 'ol days of setting up YOUR drum set the way YOU want to, so your comfortable playing on it? i wasnt aware we had to set up our kits based on whether you think the kit looks stupid or not. fact of the matter is, Nicko is a pretty effin' good drummer, and if the reason he is good because of his weird set up, all the power to him.

would you call Neil Peart's kit a "stupid drumset" since he doesnt use a conventional, smaller drumset?

i`ve called it not because it unplayable for me or because any other personal reason. his cymbals plaсed almost on the toms, i cant` believe that he can hit the tom without gitting cymbal, also i can`t believe that he can comfortable use even half of this set, i saw a pic when he plays on snare angled about 50-60 degrees.

I see he lowered the mid rack toms a bit.. he used to set up the toms like it was a wall shielding him from the crowd.. pretty classic. Oh, he plays on that all right.. he plays and he kicks ***. Major ***.

No ones asking you to play it. i saw him in clinic and if you see it that close up its a very fluid set up. really good set up.and as for his tom angles i think you guys should be more open minded about them becasue listen to people with steep tom angles some of them are amazing, i mean nicko plays amazinly and i dont see why tom angles matter

Whaaat? I'm sorry, I don't intend to be rude, but from what I can tell Nicko sits very low. Maybe I'm not qulified to judge, since I sit very high, but from my point of view Nicko's height is lower than the average drummer. Especially if you look at this picture you can see that he's sitting in what I would call a very low position.

When I saw them live i didnt see him all show until he stood up at the end. His playing was flawless though

What does it matter to anyone but Nicko? If hes comfortable who is anyone to say its a 'wrong' setup? There is no 'setup police' to monitor how kits are supposed to be set up.

Nicko has been playing longer than most people on here have been alive, so I for one certainly wouldnt question the way he does things.

Nicko can play that because he is very tall and he sits very low on his seat.I have an Iron Maiden dvd with a view from behind and the way he plays fits perfectly with the way he is positioned.

I know he's been playing longer than *I* have been alive, but so has Marky Ramone, and I doubt that guy has much to show for it, but that's beside the point because Nicko *does* easily. He's an absolute monster on the kit, and his kit setup is very unique, but works wonders for him. I wonder how he does it, because I know that setup would work well for me.
