What I think is more interesting is the fact that most people on this forum flame Lars and Joey, yet don't have an ounce of the playing ability they have. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they have more talent than a Portnoy or Colaiuta, but they have more ability than a LOT of YOU. The funniest part is, yeah, Joey uses triggers, so does Flo Mournier, but most of the people out there trashtalking Joey couldn't play a lot of the music he does with triggers on all of their drums. The last I knew he only had them on his bass drums. Just because he's not some prog god or a fusion virtuoso doesn't mean YOU'RE better than him. And yeah, I know Lars is a douche now but he has his place in drumming history. How many people here can say when they were a young drummer growing up that they didn't have thier Metallica moments? Very few of us Americans, for sure.
PrinceOfDarkness

lars was a good player - end of story, as i said, check out songs like Battery and if you still think he's pants then you know nothing about drumming
don't get me wrong, his attitude stinks at times, but most people slate him to be rebellious, but as Sleepless says, he has his place in drumming history
everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and the sad truth is that if most people on here were offered to trade places with Joey and Co they'd jump at the chance :thumb:

I have a trigger I'd like to use on Joey Jordison.
His kicks are trig'd and that's bout all that is last I saw. Everything is mic'd up of course.
Lotta players trig up the kicks for big shows, even if just to layer a lil sound under the real thing.
Not that'd I do that.. *shifty eyes*

Joey Jordision is a good player, his beats and fills fit perfectly into Slipknots music and if you listen to the new roadrunners united CD you can hear he is a great overall player. Lars is also a good drummer his band is one of the most important bands ever and he has influenced sooo many drummers who HAVE influenced you aswell, he just hasnt improved and nowdays he is a rich arragont rock star who cant make a drum part like he used to. What makes me laugh is this is an internet forum and people who even mention these names will get "flamed" beacuse its un-cool to like a popular band or drummer. If Joey was in a undeground death metal band you guys who be loving him its just cos he has money and he has a nice drum kit and you dont think he deserves it for some reason.oohh and Raymond from fear factory uses triggers.....

A ton of "popular" music is drummed by Kenny Aronoff, Josh Freese, and session guys like that. They might not be pumping out anything amazing on pop records, but the guys can play, so I think if you knew what you were talking about, you wouldn't be typing a load of crap. As far as Joey being in a deathmetal band? No one would like him anyway, because no one really enjoys the "talent" or "creativity" involved in death metal... and as far as Raymond Herrera goes... who cares if he uses triggers. There's nothing inherently wrong with triggers, unless you're a lamer who barely taps a drum but wants it to seem like you're really steamrolling... kind of like that "world's fastest feet" druggie moron. Some people just use it to amplify their sound in live performances, or get a really steady sounding sound. Jordison probably uses them for that purpose too... I mean... if he didn't use triggers... no one would be able to hear his "uber wikked dubble base beatz" live .

Not that many people like it, especially anywhere I've lived, the death metal scene is always a joke, and even when it isn't, people get very sick of sickly fast double bass, blast beasts, shredding guitar and screaming vocals. *shrug*, my opinion, and my experience.

especially anywhere I've lived, the death metal scene is always a joke, and even when it isn't, people get very sick of sickly fast double bass, blast beasts, shredding guitar and screaming vocals. *shrug*, my opinion, and my experience.
But thats simply YOUR experience. Down where I live, just everyone I know cant stand freeform jazz and LOVES it when drummers play fast heavy beats combined with 150dB of crunching guitar and throaty growls.
Hey, it aint my thing either, but to say it is a 'joke' and that nobody really likes it is just wrong.

ah perth..
the best drummer is the drummer that plays to the music.
joey does that. whether to do this he needs triggers, 30" crashes, whatever.. if he keeps the song going and adds to it, he's doing something right. i dont like slipknot's music, but that's my opinion and and i'm entitled to it, the same way that people are entitled to a positive opinion of it.

Believe it or not, Lars was one of the reason I started plaiyng drums. At my first 2-3 years I couldn't beleive what he was playing. After that, there was a period that I was influenced from some people from these forums and I said he was a *(+#$* drummer.Today after having heard more drummers, I cann't say that he is as talented as steve smith BUT I admit that his drumming fits perfectly with the band's songs and there many songs that I can't play the way he does and I also believe that many many players cannot either.
Stop blaming other drummers and start playing music while trying to gain something from all the drummers you hear

Another ignorant statement. Jordison got a set when he was very young; I'm tempted to say 10, when his parents told him to go look in the basement for an Elton John record. He's won numerous awards for his work as a jazz drummer in high school. He's had plenty of time before Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat was ever released. But I guess you didn't know that album existed, did you? (Just a speculation.) I mean I don't love the guy, but Jesus Christ on a bike, what the hell has gotten into these kids? They say they love him so much and that he is the best, but they don't know ANYTHING about him or his previous experience.
Another thing- shut the **** up (Directed towards everyone.) Everyone has his or her own opinions. Who in the hell are you to belittle them? Do you not have your own favorite drummer? Do you not love a certain genre of music? What makes you think that you can bash anyone else, regardless of their opinions on drummers or their musical tastes? Grow up and stop littering these boards with your useless banter.

From what I've read on numerous occasions here and on other boards, everyone is just jealous of the guy. You can flame him all day but there is no denying the guy is a talented drummer. 'Slipknot' is just full of some tasty *** drumming if you ask me, and his snare sound = :thumb:. I've always loved the drumming on that album and I'm not about to start hating on it just 'cause it isn't the most technical **** going.
Obviously your gonna get the kids that are all like "OMGZZ!!1 Joeyz double bass iz teh pwnage LOL he gotz teh foots liek lightning LOL!!!1" but they're just the ones who don't understand it and think it's the fastest stuff they ever heard.. Which it maybe is!
Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I feel that opinions on Joey are usually influenced so heavily by the fact its 'cool' to bash him. He's an excellent drummer and it's just a shame his talents and obvious hard work he puts into his craft go to waste because of a load of jealous drummers who crave the fame and attention he gets in bucketloads.

jordison is alright, nothign special. the man can play, i'll give him that, but he doesn't measure up to some other people out there. the bad thing is that he gets more attention then those others, so if you like him, explore the realms of other artists, and you might change your opinion. if not, that's alright too.
