This sound like a plan to me...
A user named Ruth on muselive.com has had the idea to try get Muse to number #1 in the UK singles chart [this] week (ending 15th July) with the song, Citizen erased
To help you can purchase this song
UK PEOPLE:
a) through itunes
b) through HMV Digital (requires IE)
c) through 7 Digital
Please note free itunes downloads from coke won't count towards the chart so using this to get the song won't help only actually purchasing it will
NON UK PEOPLE
you can help by downloading the song from 7 Digital, no software required but you may need a UK postcode some examples are: TQ14 9HZ, ME11SA, YO19 5PD. IV12 4ST, IV12 4QX, B91 3GR, B91 3GT, B91 3GS... (basically B91 3G.....then any letter after R should do it) even more at: http://www.npemap.org.uk/
more details on what to do on the myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/ce4no12007
Source: http://www.muselive.com/index.php?m=single&id=3290
I think we should give it a try, personally... It'd be a laugh to see, especially with MX's traffic, if we can push it up...

I've never gotten this statement at all. I don't get how (for example) The Small Print - Endlessly - TOADA - RBS, flow better than any songs from any of their other albums tbqh, it's just like pop rock - trip-hop - pop-rock - slow dark piano track. It's all over the place.
I understand Absolutions lyrics having a good overall theme for the mostpart, but so many of the songs on it are underdeveloped musically compared to tracks from Origin. Origin flows so well up til Screenager or Feeling Good, then the mood changes totally, that said, it's good to have a mood changer in an album to keep the listener interested. Absolution is pretty all over the place though musically.

I hate to say it, but Clunge is right. It DOES have a better flow to it. Personally I don't listen to Absolution anymore just because (like he said) the songs aren't as strong than on OoS or BH&R, but if there is any Muse album that I'm going to perfectly fine with listening to all the way through, it's Absolution.

That's because it's at least mediocre all the way thru (and most of it is just that), yet hits big heights on some songs. Origin is a bit more risky and "experimental" but pays off overall, except for maybe one song in my eyes. (Screenager)

I listened to BH&R through earlier, it's a great album let down which is let down by four factors:
1. Exo-Politics
2. Starlight is dull for the most part (bar the the bass and the synths)

4. Assassin got raped (they should have used the Grand Omega Bosses Edit as the album version)

Take A Bow and City Of Delusion some immense.
Shadius

Exo-politics is obviously better than Assassin though.
I'm glad they stopped playing Assassin live for the mostpart, it's so snoozey. It's just like... Come on lads, you've done this before, but better on Absolution, give it a rest.
Starlight is like the poor mans Bliss. Still a decent song tho, though admittedly, I do get a bit bored sometimes of it towards the end.

I'm glad you guys are talking about the new album because I've actually been thinking about it a lot for the last couple of days. Anyway, I think BH&R is easily Muse's worst album. I mean, songs like "Exo-Politics" and "Invincible" have such a poppy feel it pisses me off. When I think of how talented Muse are and how they resorted to releasing such a simple poppy tune like "Exo-Politics" it annoys me.
Hey, about nine months ago you guys were talking about how Muse had made an alternate version of "Assassin". Were you guys just talking about the Grand Omega Bosses edit that was released on the KoC single or were you talking about another, unreleased version? (I think you guys were talking about an unreleased version).

The original, supercool riffing version was called Debase Mason's Grog. Then they took it into the studio and fucked it up and turned it into album Assassin.
Then when the messageboard fans got arsey and said they should re-record it, they did and released it as a b-side (i.e. Assassin Grand Omega Bosses Edit).

What happened last summer was that they skipped us over (so I saw them in Chicago), then they announced more dates and went to St. Louis on a second run through the US.
Maybe I can hope for that to happen again....although it's doubtful. Sigh...oh well.

bwnstl
08-15-2007, 08:39 AM
What have they been doing that's so good at the recent shows? Is it just the setlists or what?
Clunge
08-15-2007, 08:44 AM
No, they just sound awesome.
Loads of amazing little jams, slightly mixed up setlists, crunchier/fuller live sound, etc. They're playing City Of Delusion with extra trumpets and stuff now, different strings at the end, it all adds up to a better show. And I thought the actual Wembley stage setup was fairly bad, in comparison with the simple one they're using at the moment.
It's the little things, Wembley was too clean. All of their spoken bits were scripted on the setlist for example at Wembley.

08-15-2007, 09:09 AM

bwnstl
08-15-2007, 09:54 AM
Personally, in my experience, none of their supports have been good to be honest.
And do you think the sound wasn't that great because it was outdoors?
Maybe its something to do with the outdoors, I don't know, they've been awesome at festivals.
It was more like Wembley's so big that even halfway across the stadium you can notice the delay between what you see and hear.
Also, it was very quiet for a gig in my opinion.
Clunge

I see. Well I wouldn't know, in America we don't really have "festivels" (one of the things I'm jealous of you guys for) and when bands play arenas it's generally not outdoors.
Well, either way nothing matters to me anyways since they're not coming near here. Would have been nice since they're at the top of their game and they're my girl's favorite band (and one of my top 5).
Probably was good at the front.
From the seats it wasn't. I couldn't hear any of the supports properly and Muse was better but still too quiet. :(

A few things going on. Firstly: http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/3476689/Live-At-Wembley-2007/Product.html

Secondly, the tour machine is rumbling along again until Christmas, USA at the moment. Sets are looking pretty usual stff, few tweaks (Micro Cuts and Citizen Erased are back, Stockholm is closing again).

Announced on a major radio station (5fm) in South Africa. Also, I just paid for my golden circle ticket this morning, so, yeah. :P It's this MyCokeFest epic festival thing that Coca-Cola has been sponsoring here for the last three years. We've had Metallica, Evanescence and Fall Out Boy before. For this one, Muse have been confirmed, as have Korn, Chris Cornell, Kaiser Chiefs and Good Charlotte.
Go check the International forum on the official boards. There's about three of us raving about it. :P

F00k off . They've done at least four individual tours in American for BH&R! - We Brits only got one tour, Wembley and a couple of festies. Most places got one show at most, or none.

They said they were writing on the road and may well demo some of it in 2008. That was how we found out that they would be touring more in 2008.
Morgan also let slip they would be touring in '08. They're mooted to be headlining Glastonbury over here as well so yeah.
mutant!
10-27-2007, 05:22 PM
friggen sweet dude.
although, with a once- (okay, fine, twice-) off gig in a desolate location like SA, I somehow doubt they'd want to risk it. I have a feeling the set is going to be short, and comprised mostly of their singles and most popular songs. In other words, it seems likely to be New Born, PIB, Sunburn, TIRO, Hysteria, B&H, Starlight, SMBH, etc.
Clunge
10-28-2007, 06:05 AM
Well... don't expect a lot of variation in the set. They've basically been rotating the same 20 songs for the last 3 months. They do have a good few months break so they may well have time to A. get the new material in order to play live and B. rehearse a few different songs for the 2008 gigs.
Anyhoo though, expect the hits :D.

Aye.
Wembley DVD out soon. Looks an absolute pile of shit.
- All footage from night #2 (When it was light!)
- No 'exclusive songs' (i.e. songs that only got played on one of the nights)
- Therefore, only 17 tracks
No Bliss, Micro Cuts, City Of Delusion, Sing For Absolution, Forced In, Man Of Mystery, Apocalypse Please or Citizen Erased.
Three editions, one single DVD, one CD/DVD and one 'limited edition' CD/DVD (which basically comes with a couple of postcards!).
Fuck you Warner and your shitty, money grabbing cockish decisions. Stop ruining a great band.

btw Clunge, you were bitching about their current stage sound earlier... I caught a glimpse of their EMA performance of Starlight yesterday on MTV, and my God did it sound tinny and cheap and just bad. :( Hullabaloo-era rig ftw.
Clunge
10-29-2007, 03:21 AM
Nononono, the EMA performance was 2006.
Their stage sound since about May this year is fucking brutal, it's got even better since Wembley. Matt's guitar sounds as brutal as it did on the Absolution tour, but far more precise. Just really tightly distorted, it's amazing.
Also, the acoustics for the EMA performance were awful, but what do you expect at a one song show? - No chance of getting the sound exactly as you want it wuth 6/7 other artists there too.
mutant!
10-29-2007, 03:41 AM
yes I know it was 2006, I mean there was some ad or something on TV yesterday and they showed a clip of that performance.

For BH&R, Muse have toured in north America:
- 18th July 2006 to 6th August 2006 (15 shows)
- 9th September 2006 to 4th October 2006 (17 shows)
- 9th April 2007 to 5th May 2007 (5 headline shows, 10 support slots)
- 1nd August 2007 to 11th August 2007 (7 shows)

Alright, you've proven your point, but to be fair the last four were only 22 shows total (I don't count support slots since they generally don't play a long enough set) and in ALL of those shows the closest they came to St. Louis besides the one show they played here (with a lackluster setlist) was Chicago.

Muse are great but they're not as polished as they used to be with the likes of Origin of Symmetry and Absolution.
Their live concerts, I still wouldn't miss for the world, mind.
BH&R is easily their most 'polished' album to date. I think that Origin Of Symmetry and Absolution are both more cohesive/complete albums, they flow well and build-up a good sense of atmosphere whereas BH&R feels a bit all over the place in terms of style, genre and lyrics.

I have a question for anyone who has seen them live. A friend who saw them told me that they lip sync. Anybody heard that before? I really like them and hope it's not true.

Nah, they totally don't lip-sync. Overuse of fans blowing back hair, but other than that everything else is real.

Half the time Matt changes the melodies around abit anyway, so it's not sync'd.

They do not lip-sync.
They use a few backing tracks, i.e. the Hysteria bass and Time Is Running Out bass where Chris plays a clean line over the synth backing track.
And of course, the synths in Bliss etc are backing.
But yes, they don't lip-sync except for a few TV performances where they were given no choice (Live and Kicking 2001 anyone?).

Your friend is a douche and doesn't know what hes talking about.
Some of the posts lately make me lol. You go to see a band and then are stunned that they actually are good live musicians ?
And that Live and Kicking show was hilarious. Heres the vid : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZZrM_pS98E

Very true.
But then, the only difference would have been the lightness/darkness. The two shows were almost identical otherwise. The audio is taken from both the 16th and 17th so that's something.
There will probs be some bonus features from the 16th and some 16th audio on the CD.

looks painfully bad, as I said on the board, would it kill them to release a better DVD than abso tour? that was pants, and I think this could be worse. I'll be waiting to see the Main Muse consensus on it (not including the views of the "we spaff over everything they release" parade)

Well it's been delayed twice now and we have reason to believe they're beefing it up a bit. Don't forget that all the details were just leaked pieces of info, nothing official has been said yet at all.
And also... http://www.he-3.mu - if it continues in that vein, then it's going to be good.

Following Muse's 2 nights at the new Wembley Stadium last summer, the band are delighted to announce that they will be releasing a CD / DVD package documenting the weekend. Released on 17 March, it will contain an audio CD from the Saturday night and a DVD with footage from the Sunday night. More information will come very soon!
