For bass its pretty tricky isn't it? No slacking, fingers must kill after a bit.

Not really it's the same pattern over and over.

But the Bass is just as good being simple, easier to learn to just by listening to the cd's and tabbing it out by ear... Muse is a good band basically because everything thats in their songs need to be there you really can't take anything out and it's not overpowered by too many notes, even though I'm not saying thats a bad thing it's just good the way it is...

Polyamarous

Muse bass is definitely a huge strong point. Not just what he plays (which whilst is realatively simple is no Mark Hoppus) but his sound, use of effects and the diversity if his basses.

I have yet to find anyone who get even close to his tone.

HIs lines are still awesome though.

I'm loving every moment of my Muse addiction. But I'm quite worried it's possible I'm going to wear them out soon..:(

And, is it just me or are Showbiz And Origin Of Symmetry albums that kinda' feel like they're lacking? They're got a few really good songs, but as for the rest, nothing sticks out.

Man I could add like 4 songs to that Absolution list ... it's like they went more for focusing on songs that would hit the mainstream ... rather than focusing on producing an awesome album (OoS). Such as Falling Away With You, The Small Print, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist ...

But I'm being biased, due to me thinking Absolution is a very poor album ...

But I'm being biased, due to me thinking Absolution is a very poor album ...
Now me, I think Absolution is Muse's most cohesive album to date, it has a clear theme and all the songs are tinged with a dark and desperate feel and that masks some of the filler a tad (actually, I don't think there is a single filler track on Absolution - they're all solid songs if you ask me). I just don't like SFA much.

In other news, they're playing some pretty phenominal sets at the moment, mainly 19 songs which bodes well for Wembley! E.g.

Hong-Kong 3rd March

Take a Bow
Hysteria
Supermassive Black Hole
Butterflies And Hurricanes
Map Of The Problematique
New Born
Citizen Erased
Hoodoo
Apocalypse Please
Feeling Good
Sunburn
Assassin
Starlight
Plug in Baby
Stockholm Syndrome

Soldier's Poem
Invincible

And sorry Clunge, but Feeling Good, Sing for Absolution, and Exo-Politics are ace. ;)

Sing For Absolution is crap agreed.

For albums I'd say OoS > BH&R Absolution > Showbiz

OoS is a classic and always will be. Absolution flows well and BH&R shows a new direction. Showbiz is an amazinf debut as well but for me it is the only album where they can IMO said to sound similar to Radiohead. Anyone says the later albums sound like Radiohead they're talking cr'ap.

I was just going to say, musically, it's pretty easy. Muse-wise. And the vocals are easy in the verse/bridge, but in the chorus they're a little more challenging to belt out.. and the high notes towards the end are hard to make sound good without at least a decent falsetto.

A lot of bass riffs, falsetto vocals and keyboards

They mix a bit of everything really, but they're basically a rock band with fusions of classical, opera(tic), pop, metal, etc. + A lot of big, fat riffs.

I can upload you a sampler if you want that covers most of their sound.

OoS doesn't have a theme at all if you ask me, it's just a collection of killer songs.

Absolution is my favourite Muse album not because it has the best set of songs but because all the songs share a theme (apocalypse and such). It's just more cohesive than any other Muse album.

I wish Black Holes and Revelations didn't lose its sheen for me.

How so?

BH&R sounds better than ever for me at the moment!

BH&R definately lost its appeal, at first it was mindblowingly good, but after 10 or so listens, it turned to meh :/

The piano bit was really cool, the rest was just the chorus bass riff played wrong with phaser...

I just got back from band practice too, Sunburn is the main Muse song we do and it sounds awesome .

It's his interpretation of the song. all his videos (that are covers) are like that.

And you cannot deny his skill.

I cannot deny that true.

I just didn't find any of it interesting after the piano tapping, which was magic.

That Piano tapping was awesome.

They've mixed up the US support slot setlist a bit:

1. Knights Of Cydonia
2. New Born
3. Starlight
4. Butterflies And Hurricanes
5. Assassin (Ext.)
6. Kaoss Jam
7. Time Is Running Out
8. Stockholm Syndrome
9. Take A Bow

Much better :D.

Yeah but still far too short. Damn support slots

True. Why can't the drop Time Is Running Out? :(.

It's so yawny.

Everyone goes mental for Time Is Running Out

imo it sucks though

Yeah, I hate that song.

Yay for Stockholm Syndrome though.

Muse aren't made for supporting anyone.

And I also fail to see why ANYONE whould want to open for MCR. They lose many credibility points for that.

It's not really their choice so much, Warner paired them up and sent them out really.

And Muse win @ these gigs because they completely blow MCR away . The Muse msgboard is being swamped by converted MCR fans atm.

Also a very good idea to support one of the biggest bands in the USA atm.

Exactly, tonnes of exposure for Muse :).
