DMB is in the list because Stand Up is a HORRIBLE album...their other albums are great though (with the exception of Everyday).
How do i get this thread approved by a moderator? Sorry.

hmm nobody here are big power metal fans...neither am i...they do have some good songs but the lyrics are weak and vocals annoying...the instrumental quality is excellent on both albums though as are some of the songs...they will be axed...anyone disagree?

*EDIT* Kamelot and Nightwish have been removed
I like how you listed the genres of the bands you don't like as 'crap' and 'whiny rock.'
I also like how your personal preference determined which albums are in the 'top tier' or whatever.
Anyway, Deadwing is hands down the best album this year.
SOAD for the win for sure!

You don't like power metal, so power metal albums are automatically out?
Also, the 11th of December is plenty far from the end of 2005.

System of a down Hypnotize is best album I've heard this year. Although it's nu metal not rock. But yea..
FRONT-RUNNERS
System Of A Down - Mesmerize/Hypnotize (Heavy/Progressive)
Foo Fighters - In Your Honor (Alternative Rock)
Plus what is THIS crap doing in 'front-runners?'

Axed. It's totally generic and blah.
Deadwing needs to be in the top tier. Dredg's Catch Without Arms needs to be in there too.

You can't just axe something cause someone doesn't like the album. What if someone else likes it? Whats the point of polls then?

Daron writes good riffs, John is a good drummer and has used lots of good beats in their music, Serj's vocals are incredible, although it is a shame Daron sung more on this album than serj did. They've made lots of great songs on mezmerize/hypnotize albums. Mezmerize doesn't resemble their earlier work at all. Hypnotype does a bit more, but it is different.
And the album is rated pretty high on sputnik music.

The n00b is wasting its time
As for your SOAD rant(??), I prefer the new(Mezmerize+Hypnotize) albums over the others. Their early work was more just mindless crazy Rock. The new albums are a lot more structured and I like that.

Anyway, I would add a bunch of "third-tier" albums for you, but again, why are there tiers when everyone is going to vote for the "front-runners?"

the genre's avante-garde.
Does the tier matter?
rsa5387
11-21-2005, 01:54 PM
the FIRST tier are TOP-RUNNERS or albums I and others felt were the creme of the crop so far this year...if enough people disagree with any albums in the top-runners category...appropriate action will be taken (MOVED OR AXED)
Second Tier are just the rest of the albums...all NEW albums will be added to the SECOND TIER and can move there way up to the TOP-RUNNERS with enough support.

ALL ALBUMS HAVE BECOME RANKLESS...A level playing field has been created
Personally, I think this needs a LOT more direction. My advice would be for you to get in contact with a mod or user who has experience running these kinds of polls. It should be becoming clear to you by now that they are much harder to run than they might at first appear. It's simply too early to tell what the top releases are, and to be frank, you can't just axe, move, etc. just based on what you think, what individual people think, etc. There has to be a system, and I see a system developing, to be sure, but it's still far short of what is necessary.
EDIT: This is not a bad thread idea but it needs much more work to operate smoothly and fairly. I don't see this happening at present.

So wait, you're asking for the top ten rock/metal albums, yet you have different genres added to the list? And this tier thing still makes no sense. And a lot of your genres are incorrect... it would be best if you removed them altogether.
EDIT: as Cain is saying, this isn't exactly organized.

No, I understand. :) I'm pleased that you didn't react harshly to what I had to say. As I said, this idea isn't bad, but you're a new user and I'm just wagering that you haven't done many of these before; that said, you did MUCH more than most new users would have in the attempt to make it fair. You also listened to the input and advice of the more experienced users to edit your original form. These are all good things. Don't worry about it dude.

Jom is also correct. There are a lot of elements here that really, although they may have seemed like good or even necessary elements in the name of fairness, have no place in a poll of the type you're hoping to implement, like this "tier" thing.
