I have felt washers on my hi-hat clutch now and I have seen people with rubber washers before. Is there any sound difference between felt and rubber clutch washers or is one just cheaper than the other? Does one type last longer than the other?

Thanks,
Eric

I would personally think that the rubber would sumwhat dampen the sound, but not durastically enough to change ones opinion on a pair of hats. As for how long they last, .. it doesnt really matter, .. neither of them cost much to replace if something was t go wrong.

Any change to material could possibly change the sound but i don't think in this case that it will make that much of a difference. The most noticable difference in sound would probably be when it's loose but i'm no sound expert

I don't even think the change in sound would be noticable to our ears, .. so don't worry about it.

well i don't like the feeling of tightening a clutch with rubber washers.. that's the only reason i can think of that i use felt over rubber. i can't tell any difference in sound.

There is no difference between a felt or rubber washer on hi-hat cymbals.

I prefer felt for price and such, I use a DW clutches wich have a drum key tensioned locking screw for the bottm hat keeper. A must have.
