This has happened to me many times and it's starting to REALLY annoy me. I don't go to GC that often but I swear every time i do some little shithead wannabe bassist comes in the bass room, picks up a random bass, plugs it into a random stack, turns it up as far as it'll go and proceeds to blast the ****. Today some little cockjuggling camel****er comes into the room, plugs a fender jazz into a SWR stack and blares it as loud as it'll go while hitting the strings as hard as he can making a terrible sound. Now i don't know about some of you, but i think most of us would consider that sound to be completely unbearable and just downright ANNOYING. And it's not only the rudeness and loudness that's annoying, it's the fact that he's probably damaging the bloody cab turning it up like that and hitting the strings that hard. GC was extremely busy today so i'm guessing that's why no employee came in there and yelled at him. then again, most of the people who work there are morons anyway.

Yeah...that happens, but what are you gonna do? We all did that at some point; maybe not to that degree, but we did/do it...it's a learning experience, man. Some people have it very shortly, some people have it for a while, and others never get over it.

Be a real musician and kindly tell him to turn down...and maybe show him a trick or two, i.e., how to slap or a cool riff or something. It could inspire him? Instead of making a complaint thread on an online community, why not spend a few minutes showing the bassist how to do something?

Wow, thats just...Bad...I live in Canada so i havn't been to guitar centre. But at my local music store some stupid kid came and while "nobody" was looking, went to all the cabs that had a head attached and proceeded turn every knob all the way. And even worse went to the basses and guitar and stated randomly detuning sum of them.

some people would say "oh you were probably like that kid when you first started playing bass." but i am really self conscience so whenever i play/played at a music store i never turn up that much... so i have to agree with you on how much of a douchebag that kid was

you're right, and the reason i'm complaining here is because i didn't want to be a douchebag and hurt his feelings, especially if he's trying to learn. i'd rather get it out here than scream at him in the store:thumb: . he wasn't there for very long, it just annoyed me that he would do that and not know that he's probably damaging the speakers.

...

it doesn't sound bad. or good. turning up all the eq knobs is basically like turning up the volume.

blah same thing hapened at the music store in new zealand. the guy picks up a fender p bass, proceeds to hit the strings as hard as he could making a loud clangy horrible noise. i preceeded to tell him to turn the amp down and hit the strings softer. he gave me the finger and said that the way he played was 'cool'. idiot.

yea that's my other problem with it - some of them think it's the "cool" way to play bass. i don't care if they wanna hit the strings as hard as they can, but turn down the fuggin amp.....

i keep a dildo in my glovebox, i should've thought of that.

You too?

On topic though, it gets annoying, but there are plenty of ways to handle a situation like that. You can kindly ask him, start busting out random, complicated wankery, find a larger amp and make it louder, or if all else fails, go out to your car.
