I would suggest not buying parts separately. Instead, go buy a couple really cheap guitars and go from there. If you bought all the parts on one of those cheap guitars separately, it would cost alot more. I've been playing for 4 years and have done this over time and I've got a bin of guitar parts and a couple necks and bodies lying around.

On the other hand, if you want to build a real nice guitar, then go with what other people have said.
