I'm gonna have to go ahead and strongly disagree that character is the best DT album, especially not easily the best. If you have only heard a few of their albums then please find some way to get the rest of the cds you have not heard. There are many other cds out by this band that are far better, and in my opinoin this album was a decent album but definately not there best.

just curious, but will the stuff you send out be all recent cds or will you go back to the bands roots as well and email out older stuff. i find it is very important to go back through bands entire discographies. and if your planning a gothenburg mailing list the genre is kind of restricted to the 90's, not many big gothenburg bands are still kickin it. just simple questions don't take them the wrong way.

It is in many ways. I love it to death. The only drawback is that there are so few new studio tracks and so many live bonus tracks.

I agree with that. I think it's alot better than Slaughter Of The Soul, but SotS has better recording quality. I just can't get enough of The Swarm though!

I agree with that. I think it's alot better than Slaughter Of The Soul, but SotS has better recording quality. I just can't get enough of The Swarm though!

definately man, the swarm=god. and personally recording quality doesn't really effect how much i like a song unless its like transilvanian hunger by darkthrone where i would rather listen to the powertab midi and sing along with it because it hurts my ears less.

This genre was my favorite for quite a while...then I sort of lost interest. But now I seem to be listenening to more and more of it. I bought Soundtrack to Your Escape by In Flames and got back into it.

Most people hate that album ^ but it is really awesome. It grows on you, and for anyone who thinks it's bad, I would suggest taking a few more listens. Some of the guitar work (and the subtelty) is really cool and drags you right in. Of course, there is one bad track (bottled) but for the most part, its great.

I'm a big In Flames fan...they're actually probably my second favorite metal band. I think they have a unique sound, but I don't really know much about the rest of the Melo Death or Gothenburg music scene, so I'd definately like to check it out. I heard Dark Tranquility, and their sound was okay, but it didn't appeal to me as much as In Flames does. Other than that, I'm pretty clueless about it.

I really liked the dark tranquillity cd and couldn't stop listening to it, really good stuff. however i haven't been able to get all the way thru the at the gates cd, i listen to the first 4 or so tracks and then im done, i like those ones but cant finish it, dont know why. what is teh rest of the music gonna be like, more like at the gates or more like dark tranquility?(dont know too much about melodic death metal) thanks

I would love some more melodic death metal. I have some At the Gates, Black Dahlia Murder, and Arsis. I love it all, particularly Arsis. I love how the genre takes the brutality of death metal and adds more flavor and melody.

No, they're not nu metal. I'm pretty sure they're melodic death, or at least a more mainstream approach to it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I definitely don't think they're nu metal.
