I finally got some audio of one of my favorite bass-oriented tunes. Its a 7/8 harmonics song. Let me know what you think. A studio version is in the works for our album. I dont think I am using any effects on this, just clean tone to Mesa Bass 400 and SWR/Mesa cabs.

Should play automatically unless my bandwidth is exceeded.

I moved out here in 2004 to go back to school. At first I thought the music scene was about as lame as could be (coming from playing real technical progressive metal in Miami), since there is so much stripped down indie stuff going on, but its coming along. Since its not a huge huge city the scene is pretty centralized. About 4-5 live music venues are within wakling distance of one another, most with no cover.

Your singer has a good voice, but god what a boring melody. Same note all the time. And your riff isn't especially funny either. A little more variation would have been nice. You don't have to play the same harmonics all the time, nor the same chord progression all the time. It picks up right at the end, but then the song ends. Meh.

Thanks for checking it out. I am sorry it wasnt funny to you caps. I like to keep the bass part simple and consistent rhythmwise (since its an odd meter) and let the other instruments add layers of complexity. Though, maybe I should add more to it if I keep playing it bass/vocals.

Trouble was, for this gig, the rest of the band wasnt ready with this song and we had a 1 1/2 hour set to fill, so the singer and I figured we would try it out to fill in some of the time

Ah, well, with more instruments on I suppose it would be better. It sounded a little empty to me. :) But I still don't like the (lack of a) melody. Your singer has great potential, so it seems like a waste if he doesn't use his voice like he could. Melody is more important than one might think.

I like the idea of keeping it bass/vocals, but then you should expand on your riff.
