I would upload the three songs I have by this group, but since the YSI rules, I can't do that.

They are a soft, dark rock band that have some similarities to lighter Opeth. I only have three songs downloaded, which I got from someone who posted links here quite awhile ago. The songs are titled "Amity Between Life and Death", "Death Surrouds Us", and "Depth". I've been listening to these three songs nonstop and I need more. I can't find any discussion of them anywhere, much less any more songs or an album I could purchase.

Please someone help me find some information or other recordings from this band. Whoever does so gets a little e-fellatio. ;)

Try Soulseek or Limewire.

I have tried both, and I've found nothing.

I've been searching for awhile.

I'm searching for some Soundsleep right now... any band that sounds a little like mellow Opeth deserves a listen.

Plus that fellatio offer only makes it the better.

I know what I'll do. If anyone wants these three songs, just post your email and I'll send a YSI link. but you got to help me find more. :(

I'm looking for information now...

I listened to Death Surrounds Us and Amity Between Life and Death, and wow, these guys are excellent. Like a cross between, like you said, softer Opeth and Subterranean Masquerade. I'm also interested in finding more music by them.

I'm just assuming here...

Music like this usually comes from Scandinavia
The protocol (right term?), or the hosting address is .fi

I'm thinking Finland?

EDIT: haha, you started a thread over it...

Special Brew

Yup, it's finnish. Kuopio is a town in Finland. Now I just have to find a translator...

EDIT: Yeah, just shows you how desperate I am to find more about these guys.

I used Intertran to translate some of the pages on that site, but they still don't make sense to me.

I have a fourth :D

The Withering Process!

It's pretty much 100% Opeth like. 20 minutes long, lots of acoustics and distortion. I think I was the one who introduced you to them Damien. No?

Anyways, I have searched for more than the 4 songs I have, but I've had no luck. I really think those are the only tracks that are on the internet. I originally found them in the Opeth forum. Some guy posted The Withering Process. Then some months later, a poster was looking for more by that band. A guy in Soundsleep said that they lost a couple members and turned prog rock.

I wouldn't be suprised if they are no longer a band as it's just some random band that a person like you or me would be in.

Who wants TWP??

EDIT:

Those are the 3 songs.

I'll upload it tomorrow. It takes forever to get up, so expect it... around... late.

Last.fm keeps track of what every user is listening to, and there have only been 4 Soundsleep tracks listened to... so currently, it's very likely that there are no more.

And these songs I have are over a year old I believe. No posted music in over a year? I can't imagine they are still around.

I better be getting some e-fellatio.

Bumped for the sake of these guys are hard to find... I'm even surprised they don't have a profile on metalarchives. So want to make one, but information is hard to find about these guys. Any help? Damien, I know you care about this...

Oh, and more songs would be lovely. Still have just the four.

I don't have the fourth song, reupload it. :D

I would love to see someone make a profile on MA, but I don't have enough information on them. I don't know anything that hasn't been mentioned in this thread. Perhaps bucket could link to the thread on the Opeth board where Soundsleep was originally posted?

I'm not really sure what happened to them, they had a page up like 4 months ago with mp3's on it, not sure if it's up anymore though.

To me they don't really sound like Opeth, more like Winds or Subterranean Masquerade.

I don't know if you mean that, but that's really all I can find. The three song downloads are on that artist profile also, but it's in Finnish or something.

I'll try and upload the 4th song sometime later, it's a 20 minute beast. The production isn't as good as the three, but it makes up for its... awesomeness.

I'll try to upload the 20 minute Opeth rip off track. It's EXACTLY like Opeth, with the death metalness and prog rockness. Rip off or not, it's good (but bad quality).

Hi all!

It was quite nice to notice how much conversation Sounsleep has created here. I am one of the founding members and I played drums in the band from 2001 to 2006 and played drums on tracks: Withering process(1st recording), Amity Between Life and Death, Depth and Death Surrounds Us.

Soundsleep is alive and going strong. At the moment they are recording a LP that should be out this spring.

If you have any questions just ask.

whoa. that's awesome.

Why aren't you in the band anymore?

We started the band when we all were students and single. Now I work in three shifts and have a family, so couldnīt make to rehersals as often as I should have. I felt I was slowing the rest of the band down. They have a great drummer nowadays and I canīt wait to listen their new record.

It was fun playing with such great musicians, especially Tero Holopainen(lead guitar, songwriter) is an absolute genius.

Ah, ok. His name popped up in more than one Nightwish video, and he also has credit for producing Tarot's new album. Figured there might have been some relation.

Guess not.
