Angra

I got Temple of Shadows from the daily upload, and these guys are amazing, not just musically but technically. I love the song Winds of Destination (some of the best solos I've ever heard) and I could barely begin to play the song, then stuff like Children of Bodom is usually only a mild challenge for me. Besides the cheesy parts, I was never a fan of cheese at all, they are really good, the guitarists are god. The solos are amazing and there are some really awesome riffs and keyboards. The vocalist kinda sounds like a Bruce Dickinson ripoff but hes good.

What do you guys think of them?

They really are brilliant. One of the signs that Kiko is a virtuoso is his ability to demonstrate not only technical bombast, but also restraint.

I would have to disagree there Elnimio. The earlier works were far inferior to Temple Of Shadows and Rebirth, mainly because of the line up changes i think. They really got everything together on Temple Of Shadows though, i find its not a Power Metal album for dummies because it has the massive acostic/folk introduction parts to the songs.

The drummer is probably the best in Power Metal (If anyone got the enhanced version of TOS with the Rebirth tour DVD, you will know why, his DBD technique is just so clean), and the bassist is just shockingly good.

Meh, if you look on Sputnik, "classics" are 5/5. Not all of Angra's albums are. Temple of Shadows is good though.

I have temple of shadows and it's a great album. I like some of their melodies and compositional skills. Some of my favorite songs off the album are: "Winds Of Destination," "No Pain For The Dead," and "Gate XIII."

Theres no doubt in my mind that they are the most skilled power metal band, as in each of them is the top of their instrument in the genre. I can't get enough of Gate XIII, it is a really awesome instrumental, and the whole composition of each song just blows me away.

Nah, I have about 6 songs from all their other albums. Some of them are quite great, but nothing compares to Temple Of Shadows.

Power metal really is one of my top favorite music genres.The first song I heard by Angra was Temple of Hate, and i fell in love right away. Angra is just amazing. The guitar solo in Nova Era is my favorite.

If you guys like Angra, you should check out Kamelot, they're pretty good.
