Alright, I'm in the market for a cheap, but decent distortion pedal. I'm mainly a drummer, but I want to play a little guitar on the side too. Any suggestions? I don't know anything about guitar equipment, so help me out on this one. ;)

Depends what kind of sound you want. But the Boss MD-2 is a nice all around distortion pedal.

ok well here we go:
boss DS-2 -------this thing is a beast, the kind of standard, used by a lot of ppl
BIG MUFF--------- good and solid, but kind of on the fuzzy side.
boss mt-2------------heard this was ok, but try before you buy
if i were you i would stick to brands such as boss, mxr, electro harmonix.
i know these brands and thats what I like so you might want to try them first, i just dont liek digitech in my opinion.
you could also go with tube driven pedal such as the vox bulldog or the mesa v twin, but they are more pricey.

for about 150 (i dunno what you are willing to spend) you can get a digitech RP200A.... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/150183/
it was my first effect pedal. I thought it was pretty decent..has alot of different tones to choose from, and you can create your own. You can also practice to different drum beats, so i would say its worth it.

Boss DS-1, by far. It's versatile, it's cheap, you can't really go wrong with it.
Alot of people here don't like the MT-2. You may or you may not; but if you want a metal tone there's better pedals out there.
