Kreator - World Anarchy

But you'll probably get better responses in the Music Recomendation thread.
EDIT-... I got confused. I thought you were looking for songs that have great breakdowns...

Britton: Not that you're really that bad of a poster or anything but honestly you'd contribute more to a thread if you'd typed out more than just a half of a sentence. I see you everywhere nowadays and all you have to say is just a sentence maybe 2 in some of them. It just seems as though you don't give your posts that much thought that's all. Just consider making your posts more thought out that's all. Not to offend you or anything I'm just sayin'. :)
Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is a "breakdown"? I hear you Metal heads use this phrase all the time and I'm just courius as to what exactly it really is/means.

It is a part in a song that is slower and has alot of palm muted chords or open notes to come to a climax in the song. Along this, there is usually heavy sounding drums with hefty use of double bass as well.
/best description I can give.

I'll try to explain it as best as I can. It's like a stop-go-ish palm-muted heavy riff. That is 4/4 or 2/4 timing. Kind of at a mid temp. Going like Dun-Dun.. JUGA JUGA DUN DUN.. kind of a crap example. At 2 minutes and 11 seconds Slayer's Raining Blood has a good example of a good breakdown.

Iniquity - Inhale the Ghost
Such a good ballsy death breakdown.

Good example. I've always wondered what breakdowns are myself.

Okay I see what you are saying. I will give my post more thought. I just didn't
feel like there was that much for me to say (in which case maybe I should not have posted). and being as though words are so inprecise* I thought I would shorten it and say exactly what I meant to say...as you can see I'm not very good with words
Sorry
God Forbid - Precious Lie. I love the breakdown in that song so much. It's not really the stereotypical breakdown with 0000 0000 0000 0000 on the bottom E and A strings. I dunno, it's just great.

Alot of bands like Hatebreed and LOG do breakdowns really really poorly IMO, Slayer and Deftones do a better job.

check out Evergrey - 'The Great Deceiver,' and 'End Of Your Days.' Their breakdowns are awesome, especially with the synth and solos added to them.

Could not a breakdown also be, in a any genre, a period of extended melodic jamming or soloing?

Dying Fetus - Killing On Adrenaline
Best breakdown ever.

Dead to Fall - Eternal gates of Hell
great breakdown, they are the best at breakdowns IMO, never forced, always brutal, with good variation to them
Some bands abuse breakdowns, example It Dies Today, too many by far

I hate music with breakdowns. In my opinion, it's kind of the easy way out to adding more to a song. They are really unnecessary.
That's just my opinion! Please don't attack me now!

In my opinion Thrash and Death Metal bands have the best breakdowns, while usually many metalcore/hardcore bands have boring generic breakdowns.. though I think there are some good "hardcore style" breakdowns.
Actually Graves of the Fathers by Cryptopsy is such an awesome death style breakdown.

Death and Thrash breakdowns are the only worthy kind of breakdown. :)
I can't think of any examples right now though.

I guess that could be a break down.. but it's not all palm muted and "chugga-chugga" but who cares? it's still an awesome riff.

Yeah. I like those thrash-style ones better.
Sodom's Agent Orange is a very good example of an Angel Of Death-style breakdown.
