They are tough. I started working on these several weeks ago, and now am starting to get decent sound most of the time.

I am not aware of any exercises other than just keep doing them. If you think about it, the muscles you work are THE ones you need to.

Technique - I find that rolling my index finger over a bit helps, and also making sure that index finger is up next to the fret helps. Part of it IS building strength and stretching out muscles too. Don't neglect the pressure the thumb applies to the back of the neck.

Stick with it - it ill get easier. Also, I would suggest that you just spend a little time each day on it, don't drive yourself nuts - you WILL get there! :thumb:

Practice! As much as you can, whenever you can.

Don't worry about it. Your fingers will naturally just get stronger from playing, you don't need to do any special exercises, just play as you normally would and you should be able to do them before too long.

I have another piece of advice for you:

Practice all forms of the barre chords. When I started all I practiced were major forms and a few minor forms of the chords and thought I had them down pat. Then when I learned 7ths I realized that my index finger wasn't barring all the strings equally. I would get buzzing on the G string for instance.

So practice majors, minors, 7ths, E form, A form, etc.

Listen to that guy and just practice yer *** off. It took me a long time to get them but one day they just clicked and they sounded like a million times better.:thumb:

I don't think I've gotten any better at 'em since.:upset:
