hey everyone. i've been playing for about 9 months or so, and i've decided to try my hand at a "shred-type" solo (yes i realize that the buddy holly solo probably isnt ultra quick lightning shred for most of you, but i'm not very good :upset: )

Anyway, i'm having trouble with the fingering on this section.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------14b15---14-----
---------14-------------16b18---16---14-----------14-------------------------14-
-14h16--------16p14------------------------14h16------16p14--------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i'm not sure if i should barre the fourteenth fret with my first finger and play it with my first finger or my third finger. It seems doing that i can't lift up the barre to bend fast enough Or, if i should just play each individual note with each finger?

also, on a kind of unrelated note, when practicing with a metronome, would you count a hammer on/pull-off as a note in itself, or would the whole 14h16 be one note? so for example if you were playing 8th notes in 4/4, would you play the note then the hammer to the next one in one beat, or would you play the note and the hammer-on and then another note? also, what is the best way to play stuff with a metronome, 16th or 8th notes?

sorry if this is confusing, i confused myself while writing it lol. and thank you for your help.

(btw, the song is Buddy Holly by Weezer, not an actual song from the artist Buddy Holly, in case anyone was confused)

yeah, i watched a few live videos of weezer playing it, and it doesnt look like rivers barres either, so i guess i'll move my fingers to the individual frets. thanks for your advice, anyone else have any tips?

The rhythm of the notes is not dictated by your metronome; it just forces you keep in time. Play the rhythm as it is in the song.

i don't really understand what you mean :upset:

should i play the different notes at different speeds on the metronome if thats how they are played on the actual song?
