Gear For Gig...

In about a month my band has a gig and we will rent some drum gear. (cymbals and snare).

So, I have to choose between Zildjians cymbals and here is my choice..

K Custom Dark Ride 20" Medium Thin

A Custom Hihats 14" Medium

A Custom Crash 16" Medium or K Series Dark Crash 16" Medium Thin

My snare choice is a Tama Starclassic 14x5,1/2 Premium Maple but i also think about a Pearl MMX MAPLE BLACK 14x5 or a Premier (14x5,1/2) BRASS SHELL.

So,tell me what you think and what would be your choice between those 2 crashes and snares.

You can really choose all that? That's really kick *** stuff you got there.. Do you have to choose between the crashes? Can't you just take both?

Depending the style of music.. the brass may suit.. but maple works pretty well for almost anything through EQ.. take what you like best.

I'd say the cymbals are good, but go for the K crash if it's going to be mic'd. Otherwise go for the MMX snare :thumb:

If the gig will be mic'd pick whatever sounds best to you. If not you might want to think about getting things that are loud.

Get the K crash, and the Premier snare.

Renting gear? That is pretty unheard of in my parts. I would use the Tama Starclassic Snare and K stuff.

I am going to buy myeslf a really DEEP starclassic snare for christmas. Probaly lke 8 or more inches deep. 14 wide for sure.

Really depends on what kind of music you play really. I wouldn't recommend the K Custom for many situations. K Customs and K Zildjians are very different cymbals, I would recommend K's in tons of situations, K Customs are much more... specialized.

the ride is a K custom you're right "playwithfire"..
But i'm thinking to change it and go for a louder and more bright ride.. any suggestions?
