What's the deal with the Bled? [Archive]

I'd heard a few songs on comps. and whatnot over the years, and never really paid any attention to them, and I noticed a general air of distaste towards them in these parts...

...but my roommate has both of their cd's, and they're not that bad. What's the deal with everyone hating on them? Did I miss something?

No... Pass The Flask has a few decent song actually.. haven't heard the new one though.. There are better bands who plays this kind of music IMO...

My favorite band being Rancid, I'm totally familiar with this concept.

Anyhow, some of these Bled songs remind me of a safer, less-imaginative Converge, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Music wise they're very meh in my opinion. There are some decent songs I used to be into on Pass the Flask.

Yeah but I think the main reason is the whole fanbase/type of shows they play thing.

They were alright.
Most songs sound similar to each other.
Could kind of be original at times but then they go back to their formula.

I saw The Bled rececently with Thrice and Underoath. Their fans were pretty lame but I guess their show was okay. They had some awesome breakdowns but they're too generic for me. The only songs I remember liking were "I Never Met Another Gemini" and "Red Wedding," particulary the huge breakdown in the end.

this band is headed towards the same fate as Rise Against. their popularity is growing and thus their mainstream/poser fanbase.

Even Converge is these days though. All these idiots are obsessed with jane Doe and annoy the piss out of me, when they've never even listen to any of the older stuff.

Funny, I don't know of a Hardcore band that doesn't do that. In fac the more "underground" it is, the more idiots usually in fact.

ok so the bled,

On the plus side: i think the bled is a good band. they have good lyrics and vocal work, their music may be a bit bland for hardcore, but all of their songs are put together really well and they have some sick breakdowns.

Bad side: they start to sound samey and really aren't anything TOO special, but they are a good band none the less

- They're way "just ok" as far as metalcore goes, if even that
- Kids jock them like the second coming of Christ for some bizarre reason
- People like myself have to work that much harder to put them in their place

The new album is kinda rubbish, but they are ok. Shed loads of idiots at their shows mind. I'm gonna go to that UK tour just to see how the guitarist from Fall Of Troy plays the intro to 'I Just Got This Symphony Goin'.

The Bled is decent. The new album sucks. Pass the Flask has a few alright songs. Overall, there's nothing inspiring or new about them, they're just a random metalcore-ish band from Arizona that's not doing anything with their careers. :p

The Bled are okay. I like Pass The Flask, but I havn't really heard the new album. I liked them when I saw them over the summer, there were two hot lesbos infront of me making out. I liked that :). My friend's cousin is the bassist.

My first Crush: most metalcore of all their albums, best in my opinion. Close to spazzy and the old vocalist voice was great for the music.

Pass The Flask: very good, and melodic, but i agree, the constant octaves get really old after a while. The lyrics and vocals are amazing though.

Found In The Flood: They kinda just divided the whole melodic hardcore thing they had going into melodic, and hardcore. The hardcore songs are god instrumentally, but he feels like putting in some nu-metal singing, which is horrible. Not that bad, but still a dissappointment.

i love the bled. always have always will. i don't see the problem with their fan base. when i saw them last year i was pretty naeive (spelling?) so didn't really notice anything wrong with the crowd.
the tour in london with fall of troy is gonna be great though

his first crush is pretty good, havn't listened to it as much as pass the flask
pass the flask is amazing IMO
found in the flood is not to good but it's growing on me

i actually think i have that base covered, iv been here YEARS i cant quite remember my post count but i know its shocking for the time i'v been here and the time i have spent looking at the boards (mainly this one R&M and bass)

anyway, the bled are ok, i can't listen to their album all the way through anymore, but if i catch the odd song on winamp or out on the town (we have some REALLY good DJ's and jukeboxes around this town) then ill be happy to listen to it

going to the London show anyhows, Im looking forward to it, only not the scenesters who will no doubt try their hardest to ruin the show for everyone. And I'm really looking forward to the FOT too, they're awesome.
