Bought this beauty today, 21" special dry ride, after having tried it out on saturday at wembley drum centre in london. My immediate impression was 'This is it, this is the one. I have to have it '.
I love it. Very dry, very dark, gorgeous bell, nice crashiness in it. Kind of specialised and won't really work that well in my band, but I'm gonna try and make it work. :D From the same family, I have a K custom dry light ride which I really like but, the bell on that one is kind of small and weak.

Looks pretty hot, definitely not my thing, tried one for a while when I was in the shop a while back. Pretty dark and mellow.

I came in here expecting HHX pictures.
I was disappointed.

Hehe, thanks. Well I have HHX evolution splashes and a crash just not as keen on the evo ride compared to this SDR.

You know what, apart from the jazz ride thing, I still need a rock ride and I tried an A custom projection today, both a 20 and 21, and I actually didn't like them. I was kind of set on buying one a while back after having heard carter beaufords, but up close they sounded sort of boring to me. I was expecting the ping to be more defined, I guess more like the earth ride kind of clarity. If they didn't have the zildjian label on them they could have been a
B8 pro or a pearl cymbal to my ears:lol: The one carter beauford uses sounds great though. Maybe I should give it another try out sometime? Maybe it would sound much better in context with a band rather than by itself in the shop? Which is louder, an A projection or earth ride? I've probably had this discussion before but I can't remember.:p

Well, IMO, A Custom Projections are pretty bad, and not very loud, I think the earth ride is louder. It also sounds better. :)

for a rock ride, try an A Custom 22" Medium Ride. they're beasts :D

looks like a fine cymbal you got there. good purchase.

Thanks guys. Here's a short recording I did, first just close up of the cymbal by itself, then a little in context with kit.
