In the last couple of months punk in NZ has been doing very well. Recently The Bleeders went to the US to record their debut full length and the level of support and quality of bands at shows is getting better and better all the time. With the Big Day Out coming again at the start of the year attracting some big names like Iggy And The Stogges things can only get better. Discuss the vibrancy and vitility or lack of it in your local punk scene.

I can't wait for the 2nd lineup announcement coming tomorrow either, hopefully it'll be as strong as the first one.

Im hoping so, if I do expect me right there next to ole Mike Watt. Yeah, hopefully if the second lineup is strong (hopefully the Pixies but unlikely) I will do my best to get there.

I remember seeing somewhere that the Pixies are more keen to just do their own little gigs and tour throughout Aus (and hopefully New Zealand) playing in small venues. Which I'm glad about, they're more suited to that sort of gig.
You're a kiwi? Of course, /Wellington mod represent.
But anyway guys, I've got to get back to my NCEA exam study. :( I'm sure you two can sympathise.

Yeah, that would be just as good if not better as long as they did actually come here.

Vallejo has Hope Kills, they are horrible pop-rock/popcore.
Then there is Prisoners of Suburbia who are decent ska.
Both bands don't play shows in V-town.

There is no where to play. I think the closest they've gotten is Hope Kills (who I wouldn't want to see anyway) playing a BBQ place in the next town over, and PoS playing some random person's birthday party.

I hate band that are named stuff like "Hopes Kill", Love ash", "suicide tears", "love lost", it automaticly makes them crappy. (I was just pulling names out of my ***, feel free to steal names.)

The Naked Skanks are doing pretty good here, and I enjoy them a good deal. They're energetic, fun, and bust out 2 great covers at their shows.
Pork Dukes - "Makin' Bacon"
and
**** Sparrer - "Riot Squad"
They've played with The Boils, The Pork Dukes (coming up), The Adicts and The Dead Pets so far, all awesome bands.

Sacramento and the area has a pretty thriving scene. I could sit and list bands. I mean, Secretions, SVC, Whiskey Rebels, Pressure Point, Hanover Saints, Crisis TMB, Allegiance, American Static, Suburban Threat, Call to Arms, DCOi!, then a few non-local bands who have made a second home here, like Monster Squad, the Abuse, Ashtray, and 7 Seconds.

No one bothers setting anything up because Vallejo is a bedroom community, everyone does everything outside the city, eats, works, plays, all outside Vallejo, usually in SF. 'Tis pretty sad.

That's just bizarre. Aucks is actually quite good for young punk bands, normally one AA show per week.

I'm sure Auckland is much larger then Vallejo, so you're going to get more bands, venues, and variety of people. We had a venue once, it lasted 2 years and then was closed down because of noise complaints, and those 2 years I was in 8th grade/freshman in high school, so I wasn't really into to all type of stuff.

That's about what it is San Francisco. I know of at least 3 venues, I'm pretty sure their All-Ages, and plenty of bars and such. Closest thing to a venue to me is a bar (21+ of course) about 20-30 minutes (f'uckin hour by bus) away and punk bands very seldom play there.
